Wow, the left has promoted pedophilia for a long time

When child abuse was avant-garde
The prominence of pedophilia in Sixties and Seventies thought

Last month the New Yorker published an essay about a grotesque experiment that took place in West Germany in the 1970s, in which young boys who had been taken from, or abandoned by, their parents were placed with known pedophiles.

It was no accident. It was quite deliberate. The powerful sexologist Helmet Kentler believed that pedophilic guardianship would foster an open and unashamed attitude towards sex that would preclude the development of fascistic attitudes. As the New Yorker says:

’Kentler’s goal was to develop a child-rearing philosophy for a new kind of German man. Sexual liberation, he wrote, was the best way to “prevent another Auschwitz.”’

A sensible reader could guess what happened to the boys. Those that the New Yorker spoke to report feeling depression and rage deep into adulthood.

Kentler was appalling, but he was of his time. Taboos surrounding children were being eroded. The German Green party was especially notable for its enablement of child abuse. As the Times of London reported in 2015, ‘a paedophile network was active in the Berlin branch of the Green party until the mid-1990s, with potentially hundreds of victims’.

Daniel Cohn-Bendit, a leading student activist in the 1968 unrest and a prominent member of the Greens, wrote fantasies about sexual contact with children which he later awkwardly described as ‘irresponsible’ and ‘a type of manifesto against the bourgeois society’. Cohn-Bendit was not, as you might assume, a hair-brained student when he wrote that filth but 30 years old. Perhaps the bourgeois society had something — at least something — to be said for it.

You could attempt to ascribe all of this to post-war German pathologies — except that enthusiasm for the potential of childhood sexuality was common throughout the counter-cultural movements of the Sixties and Seventies. It may not have been a cause to rival the campaign against the war in Vietnam but it was a major one, with powerful friends.

Some cultural figures were very much self-interested. The French author Gabriel Matzneff wrote about raping children for years before it turned out that he was, of all things, a child rapist. It took the publication of Vanessa Springora’s memoir Consent, in 2020, in which she related being abused by Matzneff, for him to face repercussions. Being able to turn a sentence, it appears, is a good way of dodging a sentence. Your crimes are attributed to artistic license.

Others were driven by ideology. French intellectuals were especially energetic in their efforts to normalize pedophilia. A who’s-who of Gallic literary figures signed a petition in 1977 that called for sex between adults and children to be decriminalized, including Michel Foucault, Jacques Derrida, Jean-Paul Sartre and Simone de Beauvoir.

Foucault, who was posthumously charged with raping Tunisian boys by his fellow writer Guy Sorman last year (charges, in fairness, that are unproven and that Foucault is unable to respond to), helpfully clarified that when he said children he meant children. In a radio conversation in 1978 he dismissed the very concept of being underage:

‘An age barrier laid down by law does not have much sense. Again, the child may be trusted to say whether or not he was subjected to violence.’

Any child who is able to express themselves, he was explicitly suggesting, is able to ‘consent’ — as if an eight-year-old and an 18-year-old have the same psychological capacity. The generous explanation of such a belief is arrant foolishness. The alternative is criminal opportunism.

But amid enthusiasm for women’s liberation, gay liberation and the sexual revolution, it was tempting for progressives to assume that kids had been constrained by the repressive systems they believed had been confining them. Allen Ginsberg, author of the poem ‘Howl’, joined NAMBLA, the North American Man/Boy Love Association. Reportedly, Ginsberg said, ‘I’m a member of NAMBLA because I love boys too — everybody does, who has a little humanity.’ This seems a bit like saying that you are a national socialist because you like your nation and you’re very sociable.

In correspondence with Ginsberg, William Burroughs, author of The Naked Lunch, reported paying two Arabic boys to have sex with one another. Burroughs’s biographer Barry Miles claimed that Burroughs used this anecdote in The Naked Lunch ‘to purposely annoy his readers, a Swiftian gesture to reveal their prurience and to undermine their middle-class values’. It would seem more ‘Swiftian’ if Swift had actually eaten Irish kids.

Of course, all of these efforts failed. Pedophilia, thankfully, was a bridge too far for the general public — who had grown increasingly receptive to individual choice but who were not convinced by the idea that this principle could be extended to kids, or that strange, sweaty men talking about ‘man/boy love’ had any interest in the kids’ wellbeing.

Still, this dark phenomenon endures in relevance. We often hear about being on the ‘right side of history’, as if there is a natural drift of civilized societies towards a more enlightened state of being, associated, typically, with the discarding of taboos and the acceptance of new and innovative social standards. Sometimes a taboo should be discarded. But sometimes they have a damn good reason to exist and people should not feel narrow-minded or parochial for opposing change. You see, for example, the same exaggeration of childhood agency as a means of enabling exploitation in cases of so-called ‘drag kids’.

Sometimes, too, as this case reminds us, change is not inevitable and can be reversed. Foucault is still respected on the strength of other aspects of his work, but if he was demanding the end of age of consent laws nowadays he would lose his intellectual respectability before you could say ‘structuralism’.

This is where we disagree, Richwicks. There is definitely a left/right, and the left has been the one pushing an agenda, and having it largely anti-democratically imposed.

Noooooo! There's a left/right among us little peon morons. That is created to create conflict.

The real battle is up and down - authoritarian versus slaves. The left/right is just to get us to fight one another. It's a distraction. Our true enemies are just simply criminals. Joe Biden is having his son sell "art" for 1/2 million dollars so he can accept bribes but we're left to argue about transgendered bathrooms and if black lives matter. Trust me, the people at the top don't give a SHIT about that nonsense.

Think about this - a lot of celebrities have children who are transgendered. Name one political "leader" that does, other than Sonny Bono? Chaz Bono really IS a transgender, the kids of celebrities, they are just victims to make it seem common, and we are put at each other's (the left and right) throats over this issue nobody in power gives a fuck about.

I'll tell you this, the French Laundry doesn't have all inclusive bathrooms.

Yes, you're totally right about this.

Do you think the left or even the right even know what you just said? Of course they don't.

It's a battle between authoritarians and the rest of us and this battle is fucking old.

There is nothing wrong with banding together. This is often called "communism" by our authoritarians - but they band together - you can see it now with the censorship. It depends one what we band together over. If we band together against the criminal syndicate that control this nation, that's called "bad", if we band together against some foreign nation to start some stupid war, that's "good". They define the terms.

Think people of wealth and power don't conspire for their own benefit? Of course they do. It's nominally illegal, it's a trust, but the government won't break them up. But when we band together, they'll start killing people over it. They'll use agent provocateurs. They will use propagandists in our media.

In The Wealth of Nations, talked about how employers would overtly band together to fix wages at the level they wanted, but the employees could get thrown in jail for the same thing. I guess there were no unions back then.

Unions could be used very effectively today, but I think most of them are weak or corrupt now. They need to be rebuilt from the ground up.

I agree that the desire is for control. However, that desire is fundamentally and for the purpose of "Left".

A "Right" authoritarian generally wants to re-establish tradition (for better or for worse) using diktats and force. A "Left" authoritarian wants to "Better" things and "sweep away old ideas (including liberties like gun ownership, religion, etc.)" using diktats and force.

Particularly in our times. "Right" Authoritarians today control no institution and have no power, they get fired from a P/T job at a Dairy Queen if they want racial purity or whatever. Whereas Left Authoritarians can mandate jabs, demand open borders, sabotage parental input, etc. are not only stay in power but be lauded for it.

Progressives, who began in Earnest in the USA post-Civil War, want to sweep away liberties and superstition. They believe poor people are too stupid and thus dangerous to progress, and are always plotting to sterilize them, vaccinate them forcibly, or instruct their kids in values regardless of parent wishes. That's the Left Side/Saint Just side of the "Enlightenment".

Chomsky, the "Libertarian Socialist", tipped his hand by grouchily demanding the government force jab everybody. This is why the "Libertarian Left", when pressed, complains that voluntary communes wouldn't work unless there were many forming at the same time. Same reason they're jabbers, too. The hippies are pretty much gone.

There can be Right Authoritarians who believe they need to use arbitrary laws and force to restore liberty and order and sometimes tradition.

I'm still on the fence about that. We may need a 2-4 year dictatorship/oligarchy to strip away "Progress", but I think it'll be a long slog.

A dictator who completely shuts the border, mandates school vouchers, cuts the Federal Budget in about Half, eliminates huge swaths of the Admin State starting with the Dept of Education, with any discretionary remaining going to states as Block Grants.

We cannot jail people from wrongthink no matter how bad it is. We can only prosecute people based on their actions.

When wrongthink becomes a crime you can be assured it will be us that first go to prison, not them. The law isn't equally applied, it's selectively applied. That's why there are no BLM or Antifa "protester" thugs in jail, but 500 people in jail for the January 6th "insurrection". Gaige Grosskreutz hasn't been arrested, and he won't be tried for illegally carrying and brandishing a firearm - he won't be tried for attempted murder, and he won't be tried for vandalism and arson.

The first place I saw this story was on reddit, and apparently it involved acts with 9 years olds. Then I go to Drudge and it says "associate", not producer, and "underage" women. Anyone who attempts to spin pedophilia should be tried as an accomplice, same as the guy who drives the car in an armed robbery.

Remember: They claim to be Jews, BUT ARE NOT. Hassidic Jews doing the Mohel thing are indeed practicing Jews. Hassidim have the lowest compliance rate for COVID vaccines among that group Non-Hassidim don't generally use Mohels, but circumcise medically with a clip and topical antibiotics. That includes the smart people worldwide that carry out the process of circumcision, of which the majority of the world's population did except in temperate Europe and Eurasia; from New Guinea to the Middle East to Africa and many in the Americas in pre-Columbian times.

The dbags you're talking about don't practice Judaism, nor are they all Jewish: Sanjay Gupta, Behar, Cuomo, Burnett, Bezosblog, etc.

To say nothing of the politicians: Psaki, Pfauci, Behar, Lightfoot, DeBlasio, Hochul, Ghebreyesus, etc.

However, the worst plcaes right now for pushing or implementing COVID Concenration Camps are Austria and Australia. And the most vaccinated, Ireland and Israel - the latter proving it's not some attempt to fool the Goyim while avoiding shots themselves. Israeli Politicians themselves are kissing Big Pharma ass, for the purpose of keeping/getting R&D jobs in country. And the biggest Plandemic pusher is and has been Bill Gates. Nice try but big fat NO on that claim. Mainstream American Republicans talk a good game about wanting to free themselves from "leftist" oppression. Watch what they DO and it becomes apparent they aren't mad about a leftist boot on the neck of humanity, but mad when it isn't THEIR boot.

Religion is the primary "strange attractor" of right wing authoritarianism. Purity spirals are human nature, not a left/right thing, life sucks at the bottom of them whether driven by "left" or "right" pursuit of "purity."

I should thank you for saying I'm a favorite, but at the same time, I know there is nobody to look up to - distrust my reasoning.

I never addressed this upthread, but it comes to bear on the present discussion. "Favorite" to me is a LAGGING indicator, the cumulative judgement of PRIOR behaviors. Your language is usually clear, and your intent usually effectively communicated, with little need to request clarification or call attention to apparent contradiction. If this changed dramatically, so too would "favorite" get re-evaluated dynamically.

I distrust everyone's reasoning by nature, my own included. "Irreverence is my only sacred cow." I make it a practice to challenge assumptions, a practice many find annoying largely out of unfamiliarity I suspect. I'm also willing and eager to have my own assumptions challenged, as people place like here have successfully done for our mutual betterment. This is all part of what drives the pattern of discourse Patnetters see from me.

People everywhere, sometimes even IRL mistake me for some flaming liberal. Fact is, I've been around long enough to remember the Carter years. Though I'm fiscally conservative in many ways and could relate to Republicans there, my opinion of the GOP is informed by living through the Reagan and H.W. Bush era, in addition to the neocon debacle during the W Presidency. On the social face of the political map, I approach from the Libertarian-liberal area more than Democrat-Left-liberal one.

Hope this helps clarify where I'm coming from in the big picture. Onvocation, you can find a better approach to inquiring about me what I haven't freely volunteered about my politics and thinking, than to use malevolent presuppositions straight out of the writings of neurolinguistic researcher Virginia Satir.

Just clear it up. Here let me brutally honest about myself.

I think the US engages in war simply to enhance profits of the defense industry. Senators and Congressmen vote for wars because they are (economically) positioned in defense companies they have the power to give contracts to. Our CIA engages openly in drug dealing and trafficking. Our intelligence agencies allowed a (probably) Mossad led child prostitution ring to operate under Jeffrey Epstein because they got information out of that and were able to control people in positions of power through it. 9/11 was probably an inside job.

Our presidency has been taken over largely by the intelligence agencies, which is why policies never change with the president. Obama was as much of a Neocon as George W. Bush was. Trump MIGHT have been an exception which is why our intelligence agencies lied for 4 years about Russian Collusion, illegally obtained search warrants through the FISA courts by lying to the courts. The courts didn't hold them accountable, because they are compromised by the intelligence agencies.

We don't have an operating "news" media, we only have propaganda, and the propaganda isn't limited to just our news, but celebrities as well - they are paid propagandists. Nothing that comes out of Morgan Freeman's or Robert De Niro's or whomever's mouth isn't purchased. That includes people like Stephen Colbert and Trevor Noah.

Our entire system is just a criminal syndicate. From entertainment right up to government.

I think our government is trying to restart a new hot cold war with Russia in order to maintain some semblance of the United States being "the indispensable nation". It wants to control the energy inflows to Europe to make Europe dependent on the United States. The people that run the United States don't care about the population or welfare of people of the United States. They are just criminals.

I have no problem stating what I think. I imagine many people would disagree with my conclusions, and I'm willing to talk them out. Maybe I'm wrong, maybe I'm VERY wrong on a few issues, but generally, my viewpoint seems to comport with reality and the actions that are taken by government right down to entertainers and entertainment. We're not in a free market economy, it's entirely artificial, sars-cov2-19 provided the ability to send MASSIVE amounts of cash into favored businesses thereby taking direct control over them.

I don't see any point of hiding my thinking, because I'm not embarrassed if I'm shown to be wrong about anything. I don't have any pride in being right, I only have shame in being wrong, and if I'm wrong, I want to be shown I'm wrong, so I can no longer be wrong. I've been doing this for 30 years.

Crocker's Rules:

http://sl4.org/crocker.html?source=patrick.net

No reason to be nice, no reason to be embarrassed, no reason to be delicate. Just be direct, or you just waste time. There's no shame in being wrong, there's only shame in remaining wrong when you've been shown you are. Life is too short to waste time fucking around, or being pissed off because somebody (you don't even really know) insulted you. It's not a game to play to victory, it's just game theory. Open and direct communication benefits the whole.

BTW - I have no expectation that Trump is some sort of savior, but I do like what he's done - he's exposed just how corrupt this system is and he did a very good job of it. He might be a piece of shit, I don't care. His results, have been amazing and he's been very effective. The first thing you need to do to fix a problem is know about the problem, and Trump exposed a LOT of problems. That's more than I can say about the last 3 decades of dog shit we've had for "presidents" or presidential candidates.

The onus is on the claimant to prove something, not on me to confirm/verify/confess/admit even tacitly, whatever brain fart accusations and claims people will spitball about me.

Your language presupposes I voted for Biden, am or should be ashamed of myself for this

Yes you should!

As above, to you in particular too. If you discover you're totally wrong about this, will you feel properly ashamed of your own self?

This is the problem. Your language presupposes I voted for Biden,

No, YOUR language does.

See, you're running with the presuppositions

And yet you won't clear them up, EVER.

Guess it's everybody else's problem that you dance around explaining your viewpoints and thinking, and they're just too fucking stupid to read your mind. It's not like you're not just being difficult for absolutely no reason or something.

Somebody is trying to understand your thinking, you're going out of your way to be coy about it. Well fuck it. Who cares what you think? I don't any more.

Am I supposed to just chime in casually while multiple people are engaging in this Kafka-esque excursion that is about me at great length but with 0% connection to me?

What if I was to ask you if you're still beating your wife, or if you ever ran into Rush Limbaugh in the boy-brothels of Haiti? The fact that I'm imagining you just going WTF in response is mighty suspicious now, mister!

No what you're supposed to do is when somebody asks you "why did you vote for Biden?" and if you didn't vote for Biden, you tell them you didn't and tell them who you voted for, and if you didn't vote, explain why.

You know, so people can understand your thinking and POSSIBLY assess their own. That's what communication is for.

I didn't vote - I'm in California. My vote doesn't mean shit here. I don't believe we have an honest election system here, voting here, is a tacit indication I have ANY FUCKING BELIEF in it, and I goddamned do not. I'm in the majority. I FULLY RECOGNIZE this is not a republic, or a democracy, I'm entirely aware of the system we have. Give me somebody that isn't a piece of shit worth voting for as a protest vote, and I will do it. Trump wasn't worth a protest vote the last time around, nobody was.

I'm entirely happy that a senile pedophile corrupt pervert is president. I'm entirely happy with a JOKE for president. This is our establishment, I'm happy Trump isn't president so people can finally see the banana republic we are. I'm sick and fucking tired of civic duty negligence. I'm tired of it. Bush should have been strung up but he wasn't so we have this. This is your establishment, can it be more obviously corrupt? How fucking obvious does it have to be before people realize it's total corruption? I'm willing to go further, MUCH further, until the government starts murdering people, including me.

I'd respond I wasn't married. If I was married, I would respond that I never beat my wife.

You're never restricted to a yes or no answer. This kind of game is designed for idiots. This is something a CHILD might fall for, not an adult. It's like a pickup line, it works on paper, but never in real life.

While the left has promoted pedophilia for a while, the right didn't want it to stop.

Before women were given the right to vote, the age of consent was about 12-13 for most states. The legislatures really didn't wanna increase that.

Wasn't expecting a cogent answer.
