Apple intends to install software on American iPhones to scan for child abuse imagery, according to people briefed on its plans, raising alarm among security researchers who warn that it could open the door to surveillance of millions of people’s personal devices.
Apple detailed its proposed system — known as “neuralMatch” — to some US academics earlier this week, according to two security researchers briefed on the virtual meeting. The plans could be publicised more widely as soon as this week, they said.
The automated system would proactively alert a team of human reviewers if it believes illegal imagery is detected, who would then contact law enforcement if the material can be verified. The scheme will initially roll out only in the US.

Apple cannot be trusted.

never had an iphone will never get one - they are worse than Android. Either way this is ready for abuse, somebody hacks into a phone or sends emails with links with stuff to download that never opens (so it looks like a failure to download or wrong format) and there are your pics zipped nicely in your phone storage. You'd be foolish to allow any images being stored on your phone unless you're very technical and know how to sweep it regularly.

Grabs the photos and covertly sends them to Tim Cook and other pedos. After doing this for a few months, it turns the perp over to the police so they can say they're helping society.

I don't like it at all. All brands do it though. It's not gonna stop. You just have to be careful.

Anything I've got photo wise or film wise that could maybe be embarrassing is done in airplane mode (maybe twice) or done on a non-smart camera (most the time). I don't do anything illegal so not concerned about that. But I have filmed.... you know.... the thing before. With consent. All storage devices are offline, photos and recording done offline. Physically stored on a thumb drive or hard drive in a safe.

If you want to see picture of my family, have at it. I really don't care. I have a beautiful family and Apple employees or the government can take a look. Jealousy is a hard pill to swallow. Privacy is impossible in todays world. Impossible.

What about that innocent picture of your baby getting their first bath in the kitchen sink?

First, you'll be charged with Pedophilia.
Later, Child Endangerment. Law Enforcement (oh, you know, those helpful Child Protective Services types) will stop by and take away your child.

Privacy cannot be overridden by the need for safety, without probable cause.

Isn't there something in the 4th Amendment about that kind of thing?

I get that sentiment. It's a pain, but for anything slightly questionable, use an offline camera. Not promoting pedophilia, I was talking about getting frisky with the Mrs. But I assume EVERYTHING on my phone is fair game in the legal system if they want to "catch me" for something like a bathtub photo of MY kid. I don't understand the parents that show half naked toddlers on youtube. That's somehow okay and the parent thought that was okay. Sick. Never understood those photos.

I'm personally okay with full on adult nudity. Outside of food establishments and the obvious places. I'd hit up a nude beach/pool in a second though. I also would never be nude around kids. When the kids are at school, I'll frequently walk around the house naked. Working on some trees to block the neighbor and make it easier to be naked outside. No joke. We have a pool. Swim trucks are lame. You're wet for 20-30 minutes after a swim.

Which brings this back around. ANYTHING you do is almost certainly tracked in some way shape or form. If you were a kid and your parents thought it would be fun to do a school or scout activity where you got fingerprinted at a police station to show "how they work" or whatever, it was all planned. They put that shit in a database. My old man did divorce, bk, real estate and some criminal law. Never get finger printed anywhere, ever. I didn't listen, but I don't do a single thing that is illegal. Pot would be the only thing Federally, but I don't transport it or deal. I did it for flying. I'm not taking my god damn shoes off.

Do you have one? (Don't post it here, for the love of Pete!)

Right, please do not post that here.

This is a strictly PG site for photos, so tits only, please and those tits should go into this lovely thread:

It won't make a difference. I applaud people that attempt privacy, but it's impossible. If Snowden can walk out of the NSA as a contractor, what makes you think the government doesn't have the same capability for anyone's phone? That's literally what he was whistleblowing. You don't have privacy. Went away in the late 80-90's. It's not getting rolled back either.

Confusion and creating character witnesses out of friends and family based on your search record is and will be the best bet, legally speaking. IMHO

You need to be able to get people to tell the truth, under oath, that you'd never say or search for x, y, or z. Reasonable doubt for a jury basically. I don't do anything illegal and if my internet history shows up somewhere it's going to be a hysterical shit show. I don't care if you make it public. I like porn. I like unicorns. Dolphins. Perfect ribeye steaks. Where does heroin come from. Do unicorns do heroin. The list goes on and on.

I've searched some of the dumbest stuff. There's no way any person or government agency could pin me down. That includes the shit I buy. Have a gag gift/prank book sitting on my desk right now. 50 Ways To Eat Cock. It's a cookbook for chicken. I've bought blow up female dolls and put them on the neighbors front porch. Maybe I'm not unique to doing this type of shit, but I'm a tough cookie to pin down.

I'd agree we're in weird times, but it will never be legal to do so. Let's do prohibition again. Drunk drivers kill a lot of people. There are a multitude of things that are cumulatively more deadly by a long shot. As I've said if they make things law as far as requiring this vax, they're going down a rabbit hole that doesn't end well.

Also jab stats are no where near accurate. There are far more people that aren't getting this than they're reporting. They lock you in there will be legit violence. Inner cities will become war zones. You think inner city Chicago Lebron is gonna listen? They literally murder people over feelings and territory. You think Red Neck Ricky is going to listen? Hells no.

It's limousine liberals in coastal areas pushing this shit and the left political class. Any law is dead on arrival in even the House with their majority. Too many high stakes districts where they'd lose in a landslide in 2022 and 2024. State level is where I'm most concerned. Could there be a period where you're denied entry to businesses if they so choose, sure. It will hit SCOTUS and will be deemed unconstitutional. Might not even get that high with existing case law (which I don't know).

Covid is purely media driven. Probably in the top 5 of most unhealthy people I know survived Covid with no doctor visit. He was sick and he said it sucked, but just saw him this past weekend and was fat again after the gastro stomach surgery and pounding the booze as usual at 70. Media would never report on that though. "Fat ass alcoholic survives covid" It would destroy the narrative that covid is actually dangerous.

No practical way to enforce.

Only if they fix the voting system. At this point I question the legitimacy of ALL politicians.

FuckCCP89 says

Both valid points.

With Covid and the jab, no business in my area would enforce. Life has been normal here since late May 2020. 15 days to stop the spread didn't work or was bull shit. So our community has lost all trust in "recommendations."

Voting is of concern. But multiple districts across the country would be difficult in my estimation. POTUS was manipulated in probably 10 highly populated precincts in key states with a 90/10 ratio (#impossible). House districts could have dozens of precincts and manipulation would be pretty obvious. 2022 is more of a local election without POTUS being on the ticket. I'm hopeful it will be better, but as you say OV, all politicians are not to be trusted.

Biden just directly violated a Supreme Court ruling by extending the eviction moratorium after they ruled it illegal, no?

Laws don't matter anymore, like elections. We don't have rule of law anymore, nor democracy.

Sad but true.

It's like a pressure cooker with a broken relief valve. The pressure is building.
23   Patrick   2021 Aug 6, 11:12am

Right, the relief valve was elections.

But now we don't even have that, and we have 500 political prisoners who are being held for unarmed objection to the death of American democracy.

One needs to change the metadata so it shows a series of snuff pics taken at Tim Cooke's residence.

https://rentafounder.com/the-problem-with-perceptual-hashes/

Conclusion
Perceptual hashes are messy. The simple fact that image data is reduced to a small number of bits leads to collisions and therefore false positives. When such algorithms are used to detect criminal activities, especially at Apple scale, many innocent people can potentially face serious problems.

My company’s customers are slightly inconvenienced by the failures of perceptual hashes (we have a UI in place that lets them make manual corrections). But when it comes to CSAM detection and its failure potential, that’s a whole different ball game. Needless to say, I’m quite worried about this.
27   SumatraBosch   2021 Aug 6, 11:00pm

Photoshop Tim Cook getting reamed by donkeys and giraffes and gorillas and see if it picks up the images.
28   NuttBoxer   2021 Aug 7, 12:50am

We don't know what's in their algorithm, and it's been shown before that images can generate false positives. But with no human intervention, and a call straight to local police, get ready for CPS to gear into overdrive arresting all you average Joe's for abusing your kids.

Think they'll stop there? Why not monitor for terrorist cells, insurrectionists, anti-vaxxers.

Start looking for a replacement for your iphone.
