When we visited Orlando and Miami last spring hardly any place asked us to mask up. And in California now, both the public school my daughter was attending, and the private one she currently attends do not require masks, nor do any business's in San Diego.

I'm lucky our school in Novato never did masks I don't understand how parents don't question playing (exercise) while restricting breathing? Even the corpt WHO says that's dangerous. Bonkers!!! No one at the park here has their kids in masks. SF on the other hand is horrible. I don't go but my sister lives there and goes along with the crowd. That's why I've holding out in California our school is cool! But since I'm looking to move out of California and do private school there's no way in hell I'm paying to mussel my kid. Unfortunately, North Carolina is still doing that and looks like Texas may in the works! Visiting next month!

IL is statewide or you lose your funding as a school district. Although most is property taxes, but losing 3-5% of a budget is a big deal. High school diplomas would be invalid this coming year if you don't enforce masks on kids as well. Basically you didn't graduate high school. Just golfed Monday with a school board member. The situation for schools is fucked up here.

My kids played with their friends all summer. No masks. Inside and out. No one died. No one got sick. No parents got sick. ZERO. We're in a small town and hang out frequently with neighbors, friends and co-workers. As I've commented we love travel so we did that. So we could have brought covid in from outside sources. We eat out at minimum 2 times a week with no masks. Nothing. We need to move on from this. It's a lie and a joke at this point.

We should all be very suspect of DeSantis pushing other profit sources for Big Pharma instead of talking about the scientific proof that Ivermectin works and how that should negate the "emergency use" authorization, since a safe effective alternative treatment exists.

Ivermectin is literally just about the safest drug ever invented.

So I'm wary of DeSantis until he does that.

My area dropped the mask mandates recently but it seems the citizenry has a chronic case of Stockholm Syndrome. Was grocery shopping the other day and out of about 40 people I saw, only one other person was not wearing a mask. ONE.

People have become so conditioned and divided that I don't believe there will be any way back without mass suffering or violence. I don't think it would even be possible to peacefully succeed, as the collectivists cannot comprehend a world where there are people who don't believe/do as they do. They would invade almost immediately in order to force their will upon you.

That's still true. BUT, the Teacher's Unions/EduAdmins want DeSantis' head. They HATE him for making them do their jobs and not giving them 0-5 hour workweeks at FTE pay like in CA, NY, NJ, etc.

System in California when I grew up required that they got paid partly in per diem per kid. This is why attendance taking was important. Drop in attendance = drop in future funding.

That's how it still is - the less children-attended-schooldays, the less the pay for the school.

That's why the CA leftoid, esp. bay area public schools will do everything to discourage you to take your kid(s) on vacation, even to the point where they "suggest" you write them a sick note instead, so they can keep all of their money coming in for their shittily performed jobs.

Eventually if enough kids withdraw, as in Florida thanks to the last State Legislative session (which ended I believe before the 3rd Jab nonsense), there will be demands that the school taxes be re-jiggered towards Private Students and Homeschoolers.

Florida under Desantis and the GOP Legislature passed a major expansion of public assistance to private schoolers last session, I believe.

As for per diem, NYS runs on the same system. When I was a kid they would make us come in during inclement weather to 10AM, and send us home right away, so they could collect the per diem.

The next step is getting RINOs to mandate the assignment of per diem funds to homeschooled or private school kids FROM the public schools.

It would also subsidize stay-at-home moms to the rage of Feminists, too
