Speaking of reputation, I'd like to see the time when my right wing friends get equally mad at ALL instances of fake news, instead of just selectively when "Other side appears more successful at it in this specific case!" The entire Neocon agenda was sold through headlines that were unsupported or contradicted by their own body text. Don't downplay the significance of this.
but with less dire consequences for US citizens,
Way to squander whatever reputation for "Gonzo Journalism" you may have had left over from better times, Rolling Stone!
project all blame onto allowing tyrants free rein
The story claimed an Oklahoma hospital was being overwhelmed with patients poisoned by the horse application of Ivermectin --- so overwhelmed that they were unable to treat gunshot victims.
The hospital issued a statement after the story ran, saying both claims were falsehoods --- they hadn't treated a single patient for Ivermectin poisoning, and they were not overwhelmed with patients, and were able to treat anyone who needed care.
They said the single doctor Rolling Stone relied upon for the story was a contractor at the hospital, and hadn't worked a shift there in two months.
Hospital's statement:
Message from the administration of Northeastern Health System - Sequoyah:
Although Dr. Jason McElyea is not an employee of NHS Sequoyah, he is affiliated with a medical staffing group that provides coverage for our emergency room.
With that said, Dr. McElyea has not worked at our Sallisaw location in over 2 months.
NHS Sequoyah has not treated any patients due to complications related to taking ivermectin. This includes not treating any patients for ivermectin overdose.
All patients who have visited our emergency room have received medical attention as appropriate. Our hospital has not had to turn away any patients seeking emergency care.
We want to reassure our community that our staff is working hard to provide quality healthcare to all patients. We appreciate the opportunity to clarify this issue and as always, we value our community’s support.

Gunshot Victims Left Waiting as Horse Dewormer Overdoses Overwhelm Oklahoma Hospitals, Doctor Says.
“The ERs are so backed up that gunshot victims were having hard times getting to facilities where they can get definitive care and be treated,” Dr. Jason McElyea said.
