This video has something that many foreign political videos seem to have that always confuses me. This guy is taking to Nigerians, yet he's speaking English, and the sign behind him is all English. Is that normal there? Or is this propaganda made for Western audiences?

I’m noticing Karloff that if you saw it on the internet the chances it is propaganda are as close to 100% as you can be. Like if you buy a lottery ticket and you actually win, that is about how often something on the TV, news, internet is not propaganda.

At least this kind of stuff is common in India. Western corporate news (mostly leftist) needs to see things in certain way and can be done through fat NGO's (legalizing B$ money laundering). Local people hold cards, cutouts in English who do not speak or understand a thing in English. At the same time local news paper publish completely different content which is more accurate.

I believe English is the official language (de jure and de facto) of at least 15 countries in Africa. Gotta have a common language between tribes and for governing.

Apparently English is their official language. I wouldn't have guessed that.

Nigeria and in fact all of West Africa has a crazy number of languages, tremendously different from each other. So they need English or French to talk to each other.

Wife and I have been watching some of those Scandinavian shows, from Iceland, Norway, Denmark, Sweden and Finland. They all speak English when they want to communicate with each other, and also the Latvian States. Funny, too, they all make fun of each others' languages and pronunciations as being weird. In a show with subtitles, suddenly everybody starts speaking English because they are from different countries.
"Those people in Denmark sure sound funny." I guess Finnish has the distinction of being a language that nobody has a clear idea of where it came from. They can't reliably trace relationships and origins. Maybe it came from alien telepathy de novo.

I think we're seeing the first cracks in the COVID dam.
