What do NBA players, Congress and US postal workers have in common? None of them will be subject to vaccine mandates that up to 100 million Americans face following last week's Executive Order.

According to ESPN, NBA players have become the latest 'exempted class' from the mandates, after their union (the NBPA) "refused to budge on its demand that players not be required to take the vaccine."

The NBA and NBPA continue to negotiate aspects of COVID-related protocols and procedures for the upcoming 2021-22 campaign, but the NBPA has refused to budge on its demand that players not be required to take the vaccine, sources say, and any proposal that mandates vaccination remains a "non-starter."

NBA referees and most NBA staff will be required to take the jab, according to the report.

That's perfect!

I've always identified as a 5'4", currently unsigned, NBA, free agent!

Does not the NBA and even individual teams have over 100 employees? How are they going to avoid the Biden mandate?

The same way the rich and powerful avoid all the laws meant for the little people.

Executive Orders only are binding on the executive branch.

This is why congress had to be exempted, and it's why most Americans are exempted.

Pretty sure the players themselves are independent contractors. My BIL plays a professional sport overseas and I'm 99% sure he's an IC. They get game checks and some side benefits like health, transportation, lodging, etc. but they're not employees aka salaried.

The players union probably just wanted to come to a consensus on the issue so it wasn't a problem. Also further evidence no one wants the jab. Per capita NBA players are the highest paid I believe of the major sports. So they have the most to lose getting covid. They made a good choice in my mind. They're healthy, young athletes. Covid won't kill them.

Wonder how this will jibe with the Safer Return Together health order from SFPH. Fun times at the Chase Center.
As soon as possible, but no later than October 13, 2021, operators or hosts of indoor Mega-Events and Large Indoor Events must require all staff to show proof, before entering the facility, that they are Fully Vaccinated, subject to any applicable requirements of federal, state, or local laws requiring accommodation. For clarity, “staff” as used in this Section 7 does not include all individuals included in the broader term “Personnel.” Performers or players who are not employed by the Business, governmental entity, or other organization hosting the event (e.g., members of visiting teams and independent performers not employed by the host) are not covered by this Section, but are strongly encouraged to be Fully Vaccinated before playing or performing in San Francisco. If they are not, they are required to:
•Remain at least six feet away from members of the public for the entire duration of the event;
•Provide the Business, governmental entity, or other organization hosting the event with proof of a negative COVID-19 test (nucleic acid or antigen) taken within the 48 hours before the event; and
Wear a Well-Fitted Mask at all times except while actively performing or playing as required by Appendix A of this Order.

Interestingly, Jonathan Isaac also didn't take knee or wear Black Lives Matter shirt one year ago.

Draymond gives his thoughts on Wiggins’ COVID-19 vaccination status

He points out that we are no longer in "the land of the free" and that mandates "go against everything Americans stand for".

A lot of NBA players are sounding much more sane than the media.

I stand with Kyrie Irving.

I stand with Andrew Wiggins.

Bradley Beal sounds very cognizant and coherent. One cannot honestly refute his facts.

https://www.espn.com/nba/story//id/34268790/golden-state-warriors-andrew-wiggins-regrets-getting-covid-19-vaccine-all-star-title-season

Andrew Wiggins made his first All-Star team this year and was a crucial part of the Golden State Warriors' run to the NBA title, but he still regrets one thing he did this season.

"I still wish I didn't get [vaccinated], to be honest with you," Wiggins told FanSided.

At the start of the season, Wiggins said he was torn over the decision to get vaccinated against COVID-19. Had Wiggins not gotten vaccinated, he would've been in the same boat as Brooklyn Nets guard Kyrie Irving in only being able to play in some of his team's games due to local ordinances.

Unlike Irving, Wiggins did get vaccinated before the start of the NBA season.

"I did it, and I was an All-Star this year and champion, so that was the good part, just not missing out on the year, the best year of my career," Wiggins said. "But for my body, I just don't like putting all that stuff in my body, so I didn't like that and I didn't like that it wasn't my choice. I didn't like that it was either get this or don't play."

Hindsight or you're an idiot. The guy that said it would take 15 days to stop the spread. The guy that said hospitals will be overrun. The guy that told you masks don't work, then they do. The guy that said it will be years before a vaccine. Poof there's a "vaccine" in record time.

You decided to take that after multiple, flat out lies for 9 months. You're an idiot.

I wouldn't stand with Andrew Wiggins, Patrick. There will be another "pandemic" in the future. We need to shame these people. Otherwise this can happen again. There were soooooooo many obvious lies before the vaccine was even created. It's like saying it's okay you were fooled, we'll give you a break. No. You're an idiot. Don't do it again.

It’s easy to judge Wiggins and millions of others who were threatened and bullied into doing things they didn’t want to do. But redemption is the beauty here. Many realize their mistake and we should welcome them with open arms when they express regret and advocate for change.

Unfortunately that's not the way it works. It should work that way, but there are still people too dumb to know they've been fooled. At some point you have to call them out.

My list above says it all. That's not even getting into talking heads saying the vaccine works to stop the spread. You need a booster to stop the spread. I know you're more religious, but it was a fucking clown show of shit being jammed back up your ass. Don't take it, easy as that. Get fired and collect unemployment. NO one should have taken the jab to keep employment. Get the unemployment checks and sue their ass.

This isn't China with the one child act over the past decades. Oh wait, they just made a virus that likely made women infertile. I didn't want it and didn't get it. Boom. Anyone with a problem with it can go get fucked and I'll tell them as much.

Sorry for the rage, but no one deserves respect that took the vaccine. They're idiots and need to be told as much. I'm happily married, but told my wife as much for getting the vaccine. She regrets it's. We talked about it. The problem is people keep defending that damn vaccine. It does nothing. You can convert people, but it's harder than you think.
16   PeopleUnited   2024 Jan 25, 8:46pm

So you told your wife she is an idiot who doesn’t deserve respect and she is still happily married?
Well, I guess that is proof that redemption and forgiveness are at work in your marriage!

Of course the jabs were a mistake. But snake oil always has its true believers. And this particular batch of snake oil was supported by nearly every government, military, hospital and even religion on the planet. (Not all governments or religions but majority) so you might forgive people who fell for the propaganda, especially those like your wife who show remorse. Just like I forgive people who despite all the evidence for a young earth falsely believe in billions of years that never happened.
