I think this is true. I worked at a place where the janitor was a Haitian woman and both her kids were in medical school.

The main reason why Haitians and Nigerians and Ugandans and any immigrant black person does so much better than your average American black is because they’re volunteering to be a minority in our society, knowing the score, accepting the situation, and knowing that the opportunity here outweighs any negatives.
American blacks are taught that the negatives will absolutely hold them back forever, so they mostly don’t try.
