Militia Moves Into Texas Border County to Deter Illegal Immigration
Rural Kinney County, where Brackettville sits, has become a major thoroughfare for illegal immigrants trying to avoid law enforcement. The county shares just 16 miles of international border with Mexico, but sits between Del Rio and Eagle Pass—two major illegal border-crossing areas in Texas.
The Kinney sheriff’s stable of six full-time deputies has been beefed up by constables and deputies from Galveston, but with 1,360 square miles to cover, it’s an insurmountable ratio. The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) has had an impact, catching smugglers on the roads and illegal aliens on ranches, but still, they’re outnumbered.
Meanwhile, Sam Hall, the founder and president of militia group Patriots for America, has spent the past week in Kinney County.
“What we’ve seen is an invasion of this county,” Hall said during a county commissioner’s meeting on Oct. 18. “What we’ve seen is residents that are scared to death right now, and they don’t feel like they have support from the state.”
Hall told The Epoch Times that he’ll have around 40 men in the county by the end of the week and a total of 100 by around Oct. 26, with more coming. The militia’s arrival is happening against the backdrop of reports that 60,000 to 85,000 mostly Haitian migrants are on their way toward the U.S. border.
Well, if the government is not protecting the border, it does seem right for the people themselves to do it.
TALLAHASSEE, FL —Florida Governor Ron DeSantis stirred up controversy this week after he proposed allocating state funds to grow his own personal army of Uruk-Hai orc warriors.
"Frankly, the federal government is terrible at everything, including the Army, which has been taken over by wimpy-dimpy pink-haired SJWs," said DeSantis. "It's time for Florida to breed its own Uruk-Hai force."
DeSantis touted the many uses of a personal Uruk-Hai army, such as helping with hurricane relief, monitoring the polls on election day, and making sure public schools aren't making kids wear masks.
"REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!" screamed every CNN anchor while breaking the story and running in circles with their hair on fire.
Pentagon officials condemned the proposal, saying Florida having its own Orc army controlled by the governor is "not fair," as it competes with the Federal government's orc army controlled by Joe Biden.
"States should not have their own military forces," said General Milley. "The only military we allow should be the one controlled by the Pentagon, thoroughly trained in Critical Race Theory, and bearing the white hand of Biden."
CNN has promised to stay on top of the story, as soon as they finish screaming.
Barry County, Mich. Sheriff Dar Leaf is offering a “militia course” for patriots in his county to use their 2nd Amendment rights to defend the homeland.
According to a Facebook post, Leaf is offering the course to “learn a militiaman’s duty.” He will provide a “certificate upon course completion,” and welcomes “potential jurors, homeschoolers, ladies & gentlemen.”
Leaf is one of the nation’s leading constitutional sheriffs. He is outspoken about the county sheriff’s duty to interpose their authority to reject unconstitutional and immoral laws at the federal and state levels.
Big League Politics has reported on the rise of the militia movement in Michigan in response to Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s intolerable acts:
“A Michigan town has passed a resolution declaring themselves to be a 2nd Amendment sanctuary, and they intend to back that resolution up by force if needed.
Holton Township, Mich. passed the resolution on Tuesday night and are creating a volunteer militia in the town that can interpose itself against the enforcement of illegal, unconstitutional gun control recently approved by the far-left Democrat legislator and governor.
The township is enacting these policies because they feel they are “necessary for the security and rights of Holton Township residents.”
“The people of Holton Township, through their duly elected members of the Holton Township Board, hereby designate Holton Township as a Second Amendment Sanctuary in order to preserve for the people of, on and in Holton Township, the inalienable rights guaranteed by the Constitution of the United States of America,” the resolution states.
Democrats Propose Bill to Severely Restrict Militias
Democrats are looking to severely restrict "unauthorized militias" by closing a "gap" in federal law and making it extremely difficult for legal militias to carry out their constitutionally protected activities.
The truth is that the bill targets two groups that Democrats hate: gun owners and conservatives.
The Preventing Private Paramilitary Activity Act is a direct challenge to those who choose to join a militia. The rationale is frightening.
“Three years ago, white supremacists affiliated with paramilitary organizations stormed the U.S. Capitol, shattering windows, walls, and the families of five U.S. Capitol police officers,” said Sen. Ed Markey (D-Mass.) in a statement accompanying the bill. “Private paramilitary actors, such as the Proud Boys and Oath Keepers, pose a serious threat to democracy and the rule of law, and we must create new prohibitions on their unauthorized activities that interfere with the exercise of people’s constitutional rights. The forces of bigotry, hatred, and violent extremism must be stopped for the sake of our democracy.”
No militia member has ever been charged in the killing of any Capitol Police officer because the dead officers died of natural causes. For a sitting senator to peddle the lie that someone injured the families of Capitol Police officers is lower than low.
Congress can shut them down, unfortunately.
I'd imaging the SC could overrule that though? They've been invalidating gun laws left and right the past year or so.
"A well regulated militia..."
I see what you did there
Article I, Section 8, Clause 16:
[The Congress shall have Power . . . ] To provide for organizing, arming, and disciplining, the Militia, and for governing such Part of them as may be employed in the Service of the United States, reserving to the States respectively, the Appointment of the Officers, and the Authority of training the Militia according to the discipline prescribed by Congress; . . .
The Supreme Court has characterized Congress’s power over the militia as being unlimited, except in the two particulars of officering and training them under the Militia Clauses,1 such that the power may be exercised to any extent that may be deemed necessary by Congress.2 At the same time, the Court acknowledged [t]he power of the state government to legislate on the same subjects, having existed prior to the formation of the Constitution remained with the states.3 However, this power, the Court continued, is nevertheless subordinate to the paramount law of the General Government.
