All it would take to destroy the exurbs is make personal car ownership unaffordable. Here is how:
Outlaw ICE cars by 2035. Cars will often sit parked since not enough juice in the grid to power them
Mandate full self-driving. This will put the cost of a personal car well over $100,000.
High personal property tax on anyone who does still own a car.
We are likely ending the days of freely doing country drives or spontaneous trips to the market. The future will be shared rides in electric 15 passenger vehicles that do flexible routing runs approved in advance.
Necessity will force people to work on their own cars and I can see even a cottage industry of older parts being fabricated.

Yes, just like the Model A clubs have 20,000 of those old Fords still on the roads. But there will not be any gas to put in the tanks, so ICE cars will be limited to collectors and not in general use. Doubtful that people will make their own alcohol to use as fuel.

Why not? It's stupid easy. Whole fucking USSR started doing exactly that when Gorbachev clamped down on official alcohol sales.
In the USSR life actually got BETTER for the AVERAGE Russian.

It's easy to make alcohol. What's hard, is turning that into everclear.
It's not ANYWHERE near cost effective to do either. First you make the alcohol then you need to distill it multiple times. Distilling is dangerous unless you know what you are doing.
I suspect revolution is in our near future. Too many people are going to be driven into poverty until they get to the "Fu...
It’s super easy. Distillation is super easy. Distill twice is all it takes to get 180+. But it’s certainly not cost effective for ICE.
Some of those small towns outside of San AntonioMarble Falls, San Saba, Comfort, Schulenburg, New Braunfalls, Kerrville, etc. The Hill Country is the most beautiful part of Texas.

Have you ever done it?
In any case, I know it's illegal to do in most, if not all, states.
Exurbs will crater when gas prices go up 5 times what they are today.
Xi Biden and co are just now getting started.
Yet, the Libtards refuse to accept this reality..as they don't accept most other forms of reality.
