I was wondering about that as well. Everything I have seen seems to indicate that people are still consuming like mad.
Obligatory consume mass quantitates:

This is what Buttplug said defending his handling of transportation covfefe.

My wife heard same, that people have started stocking up again. But that doesn't negate the MASSIVE disruptions caused by scamdemic, and exasperated by shot mandates. Or the fragile nature of centralized economies and industrial food.

100 ships now stranded outside the LA harbor. Longshoremen are working slower than ever. My terminal has two ships at dock with berth space for one more which isn’t being filled because there’s no labor to work it and berthing costs something like $10k/day. The two ships that are here are sharing three gangs (one crane, two yard top handlers, 9 trucks and a couple of workers under the crane). One has 13,000 containers to load/unload. At an average of 300 containers per gang shift, and working two gangs, that will take 21 shifts to move that much cargo on that one ship, and working day and night it will take 11 days until the ship can sail. The other ship is somewhat smaller at 8500 TEU, but is only working with one gang. So it’ll take 12 days unless more labor can be found.

See why this mess is getting worse?

What terrorists could not do with a nuke or dirty bomb in a harbor, we're doing to ourselves with an over-dependence on outsourcing, and over-consumption of worthless sh*t.

That's a shit excuse and I'm not buying it. Every time our Government goes to shit, everyone blames the fat people buying too much shit.
The Supply chain has been limping since "15 days to Slow the Spread". Companies everywhere keep their goods at a central warehouse if they have any at all, and have not been stocking shelves. It was already crawling along, then along came Pete Buttfuckeridge that some ass clown Ukraine Fuckboy saw fit to put in the position to oversee our Ports and Transpiration, and he saw fit to make sure nothing gets in or out.

But sure blame the folks buying all of the masking tape at the dollar tree for there being no merch on Big Box store shelves.

The first clue that this is a lie, is that you're reading it in "mainstream news".

Could be from all the people getting gov handouts. Poor plebs are not use to having this much money and are blowing it instead of saving.
9   Reality   2021 Oct 19, 9:32am

Isn't that what the mass-murdering slaver party (Democrats) always advocated? Handing money out to the poor would lead to increased consumption because the poor spend a higher percentage of their income, so they say. What they don't tell you is that the cheaper products also involve higher percentage of import (unlike more expensive American made goods) and higher tonnage in shipping ('cuz junk costs less per pound).

Did the car dealerships run out of cars because there was a mass spree of consumer purchases? Seems to me the sales volume was normal to below normal, but the sold stock was not getting replaced with new vehicles.
11   Reality   2021 Oct 19, 10:13am

For cars, I think the industry-wide "chip shortage" is a coordinated scam promoting electric cars and bailing out the banks that under-wrote all the lease contracts in the previous years (similar to the cash-for-clunkers program in the last cycle). IIRC, the biggest lease underwriter is Chase (the consumer side of JPMorgan-Chase), the biggest bank.

Well at least they get to hold it for a minute before giving it back to the elites.

@Shaman Why is there no labor to work it?

Wages too low, people not trained, or people objecting to vaxx mandate?

Absolute truth. Always look for the other reasons as this Dem approved press release is a smokescreen to distract the NPC's

It's not people buying Flour, or Rice, or Toilet Paper.

The shit that is absent is mostly shit from China that's too heavy or small enough and not urgent enough for air cargo: USB Hubs, Printers, etc.

Like I said in the other thread, NPC Hotspots are being programmed to broadcast "This is good, local and organic will be boosted". The shortage is not with local tomatoes and basil, but with centralized Meatpackers and imported Electronics.

Yes, that reminds me of the Obama era spin when unemployment was rising - "People now have time for the important things in life outside of work."
