I generally agree, but this becomes Paradox of Tolerance territory. If nobody calls out users who shitpost and/or argue in bad faith, then the community regresses to a shitty mean. "Did it to trigger the libs hyuk hyuk" is a depressingly common feature of Trump fan communities. It's sardonically funny to watch how badly they hate the tag "deplorables" when they embrace deplorable behavior as a signature of their brand. Sad too, because this is the process by which "divide and conquer" is currently implemented in our society, keeping huge blocs with more interests in common than not treating each other like blood enemies with no level of snipe or attack off the table.

Review the above thread. Who brought facts and useful information and relevant targeted questions, even a socially palatable "out" for the shitposter to the table? Who brought willful deliberate shitposting and evasive non-responses to the discussion? Which kind do you want to find yourself associated with by the communities you choose to participate in, and why?

It's fun and useful to call out people's ideas as erroneous and argue why. If you ask them to back up their assertions and they ghost you assume they're trolling. Don't expect cogent answers. It gets us no where to call other users
