You gotta be compassionate toward those in the MIC. Nobody really cares about them anymore. Their budget of $777.7 billion was just passed. About $195 billion of that covers pension payments (it's as much of a social program as anything to do with defense). After factoring that out, it leaves about 2.8% of America's GDP going towards military spending. This is a record low since WWII.
The total number of people in the military including reserves is less than 1% of the population.
Green men and spaceships is about the only thing they can defend us from with that force count.
