That shit doesn't work against Javs. It's there to calm the crew's nerves. But now they know its worth.

Javelin has a tandem pair of shaped charges as the war head precisely because metal grid/mesh works at setting off those shaped charge: that's why there has to be a stage-2 (sitting in tandem behind the stage-1 part) to reach the actual tank after stage-1 is triggered by the metal grid/mesh. The counter-measure to a two-sage shaped charge is two layers of metal grid/mesh each spaced outside the tank. Then Raytheon would have to make a 3-stage warhead . . . hence see my comment above regarding flight characteristics and portability limit as stages increase.

I know the theory but there is plenty of evidence on the ground already. The stupid bedframe thingy does not protect tanks from being destroyed or disabled.

Bedframes do not help if tank crews run away:

Just so I’m clear here, we are glorying in the death and destruction of Russian military assets and personnel? Is that the intent of this thread?

Except I never was a "covidian". But you're welcome to back up you accusations with links and quotes.

And what's with all the protestations: I though you liked getting info from multiple sources. Suddenly something not jiving with the RT picture makes you uncomfortable?

Relax: it's just CGI. IRL the mighty Russki army is greeted with flowers and copious amount of vodka and pussy.

I understand that propaganda didn't fit your narrative, but this propaganda does, so you just right in without question. Pfizer might not flow through your veins, but NATO certainly does.

Yes, I have my own ideas about right and wrong. They don't align with yours and Putins? Tough cookies, you'll have to live with it.

But... But.. Computer graphics!

The conversation they are having is priceless, between him asserting that he didn't know he's bombing the city and them (oh so gently) pointing out that it's reflected in the flight plan.

Rumor has it they were both alive when they landed but his slimmer partner decided to shoot one of the two peasants who were greeting him as a liberator and was killed with a shovel by the other.

Teacheable moment wrt 2A. All peasants must have rifles.

This is the takeaway. Javelins wouldn't be so bad, either, since in the Early Republic canon ownership was allowed. This is NOT sarcastic.

Oddly enough, in parts of the US where handguns are tightly controlled, one is allowed to own weapons like a Javelin and a cannon. Obviously not practical.

A bit spendy, yes. Like $200K for the tube and $80K per shot iirc.

First babushka bedframes on tanks, now this:

Probably meant to stop fragments where it matters most. Doesn't seem reliable against bullets, unless may be 5.45 or from far away.

Since 2008 they allegedly spent umpteens billions $$ to modernize their army and this is what they got - bedframes on tanks and firewood on military trucks? Were these billions simply stolen?

Stolen, mislocated, mis-appropriated, etc. Using the $$ to develop hypersonic shit (or just cartoons to show hypersonic shit) has a much greater "wow" factor than to change manufacturing processes. Plus, military is a huge bureaucracy which may miss stupidly obvious things until it's collective face is rubbed right into it.
373   mostly reader   2022 Mar 5, 10:34am

While on the topic of well-equipped armies. You know who may win this war for Ukraine if he wants to? Erdogan. He's helping, but it seems that he's doing just enough to keep Russians stuck in Ukraine while he'll be kicking their asses in Syria.

RFP-General Lobbyist Technologies Install of Stryker "Slats" - $100,000 per vehicle- approved DOD Contract Number #64231

2004 General Lobbyist Technology Donations:
Senator John McCain $5000
Rep Paul Ryan $5000
Rep Nancy Pelosi $5000

"Russia has a corruption problem"

Are those figures an average per donor? If they are total amounts, then they are insignificant. Those lobbyists would lose out to others that offer 6 figure book deals and speaking fees.

Slats do work against RPG-7, which are the primary anti-tank weapon in the Haji lands. And they do work against that. But $100K seems a bit high, yes.

This is a very good example of what Conservatives are up against. Conservatives have always been fairly diverse, unlike the picture the leftoids deliberately paint of them. The leftoids are always for/against the current thing, brainless, amorphous, masses without any backbone or principles. Their weakness is getting eaten by their own bullshit they mindlessly promulgate, it's so much bullshit that it's hard not to fall into a trap. Their strength is that they are an amorphous, borg-like mass of groupthinkers who'd sell out their family to score political points and harm "right-wingers". There is no disagreement in their ranks as opposed to Conservatives, who have the neocon/rino and the tea-party wing, and those are only two of many. Pretty much nobody on this board has made any excuses for Putin's current actions, the vast majority of those opposed to further involvement made arguments as to why the US should stay out of this conflict, and pointed out the hypocrisy in dealing with the rest of the world and our own plentiful invasions and killings.

We're $30T in debt.

Where's the money coming from?

I'm talking about money, so don't give me glittering generalities about oil paying for it or the Indispensable Nation must dispense with taxpayer money because Principles, etc.

Ukraine not only has a corruption problem, they interfered openly in our elections and bragged about it. They can fuck right off.
