AAA Lists Most Expensive States for Gas: 9 of Top 10 Are Run by Democrats
David Hawkins March 8, 2022

According to AAA here are the most expensive states for gas as of Monday:

The American Automobile Association (AAA) has listed the top-ten most expensive states to buy gas, nine of which are run by Democrats.

According to AAA, the national average for a gallon of gas is $4.06 and rising.

The average is now 45 cents more than a week ago, 62 cents more than a month ago, and $1.30 more than a year ago.

And it promises to get worse as the West debates banning Russian oil.

AAA has released a list of the ten states with the most expensive gas prices and most are blue states.

The only red state in the top ten is Alaska, which surprisingly comes in at number 6.

Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, said:

“There are few words to describe the unprecedented rise in gasoline prices over the last week, with massive spikes coast to coast in both gasoline and diesel prices, as oil prices jump to their highest since 2008. ...

California: $5.34
Hawaii: $4.69
Nevada: $4.59
Oregon: $4.51
Washington: $4.44
Alaska: $4.39
Illinois: $4.30
Connecticut: $4.28
New York: $4.26
Pennsylvania: $4.23

Looking at oil rig count and it looks like it is at least 10% below early 2020 levels. Oil producers are looking to maintain the price of gasoline and diesel and avoid another price crash.

Is that high or low for the area? I'll come across as a dick, but I just don't even pay attention to gas prices anymore. Maybe that's their goal. If my fill up is under $150-200 I don't really care with a 24gal tank and V8. Still consistently under $100 even on E here in IL.

You can get a RAV4 hybrid and get 90 miles on electric, for $40k and rarely pay for gas. My mom has one and hasn't put gas in her car in 6 months. You just can't do much with the electric though besides A to B. I have other needs so that will never work. I anticipate in 10 years when I'm 50 I'll be paying $300 per fill up for my same car. I'll have a new one of course.

It's on the lower end for that paricular area. I don't consider gas prices a life-changing kinda expense either, but many people (with supposedly high-paying jobs and healthy amount of savings) like to profusely whine about them so I'm happy to deliver the good news. =))

Fuck Birdbrain Newsom
...
510   ElYorsh   2023 Mar 30, 10:28pm

It's not Newsom.

It's the stupid Liberals that are the majority. They voted in all the current Dem liberals in Sacramento. This is part of their climate change agenda.

Expensive gas is just a part of their "solution" to traffic problems.

In San Diego. Lights take longer and don't make sense anymore. Parking is being taken away, to give way for bike lanes that only the homeless use with stolen rental bikes. The bike lanes are even being imposed in some commercial areas, leaving no parking for restaurant patrons. Etc, etc

And then there's the corruption and misappropriation parts that lead to more taxes being added. The tax money that is supposed to be used for roads, is being used for all the public transportation and bike lane projects, etc. and not for the upkeep and improvement of roads... So they ask for more taxes eventually... AND PEOPLE SWALLOW THEIR BULLSHIT. Unbelievable.

Yes, California is fucked because it went full retard around the early 1990s. When I say Birdbrain Newsom I imply the entire left wing electorate.

I'd say late 90s, not early. In 94-96 CA still had enough collective brains left to vote for Prop 187, Prop 209 and the one with requirement to use English in public schools.
518   WookieMan   2023 Sep 13, 11:42am

I commented before on this. Until it costs $300-500/tank to fill up my gas guzzler I really don't care. Outside of random road trips/camping, I fill up twice a month. Wife expenses all her fuel through work. Occasionally we'll throw one of my fill ups in with the expense report. YES, the owner knows and doesn't care before someone gets a stick up their ass. I've done free work for the company, built their original website and helped them up their marketing game. So nothing shady.

I would argue instead of watching gas prices, how do you increase your income? It's like welfare folks bitching about what they make and not looking for better/higher paying jobs. No one cares. You're either a criminal or too lazy. $60k low skill jobs are out there if you're not a dip shit. And if someone thinks you're attractive it's now $120k for a family. You can't make it on that you're an idiot. Life isn't hard to be middle class to upper middle class even without an education.

There's a logbook in the vehicle I purchased in 2006 where I've recorded every fuel purchase, going back to the first purchase on May 3, 2006: $3.31 per gallon.

Today I filled up at $4.80 per gallon.

Both purchases along the same stretch of discount stations in East SJ, where I always refuel except on rare long distance trips.

Annualized gasoline price inflation in East SJ since May 3, 2016:

= [ ln (4.8 / 3.31 ) ] / 17.5

= 2.1%.

Filled up at least twice already for $3.99/gal ($3.93 cash price) at a local station. So we're finally under $4.

Too many Californians moved there and screwed things up for the locals. That’s why Californians are hated in almost every state they move to

CA gas price is higher than the rest of the country because the state mandates a "special blend". Unless Californians who moved to ID made their new state mandate a "special blend" too, there is no way it's related to them.

PS. We once stopped to shop for food in Idaho Falls before a week-long RV camping trip to Yellowstone and were surprised to find food prices as high or even higher than in CA. Don't remember gas prices though - we didn't fill up there I guess. But I'm pretty sure us driving through ID didn't cause food and fuel prices to spike. :)

I didn't stop and eat - just loaded on groceries and went on my merry way.
