I’m in some Facebook expat groups in Baja California Sur Mexico. I’m noticing numerous people who are moving down from California and Canada, among other states and even Europe.
Some guys asked me how come I don’t pay taxes in California, “not even property taxes?”
Some are Mexicans who went to California for a while, but many are guys like me.
For me it’s like time travel; females treat me like I’m 15 years younger 😜
Guys mentioned that the rents and mortgages in Canada and the USA are too much, and they are bailing out. Some guys are living in their Sprinter vans for a while, it’s very popular down there.
I have been going down there since 1979 and worked there before living in California, so it’s familiar territory for me, not a strange new place.
One that surprised me was a couple from NYC moving down; they were in the rat race, the rats won.
Tidbit: my Mexican friends are also annoyed by the unwashed ignorant people coming up from southern Mexico, we aren’t the only ones who can do without them.
