A thread to post the horrifying anti human rights bills proposed by the far left in Sacramento. First one:

Thursday, May 5 — 11am
Action Alert: SB 866 (CA Minor Vaccine Consent) Hearing Next Thursday!
California State Capitol
1315 10th St, Sacramento, CA 95814

SB 866 will be heard in a special hearing of the Senate Judiciary Committee next Thursday, May 5 around 11am.

Email legislators on the Committee TODAY asking them to Oppose SB 866! Come to Sacramento on Thursday!

SB 866 Minors: vaccine consent (Wiener) – 12 Year Old Minor Consent to Vaccination Without Parental Consent: Allows a minor 12 years of age or older to consent to a vaccine that is approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration and meets the recommendations of the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) of the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (ACIP) without the consent of the parent or guardian of the minor.

SB 866 will be heard in the Senate Judiciary Committee on Thursday, May 5 after the Senate Floor session adjourns (~11 am).

A Voice for Choice Advocacy sent a detailed letter to the Senate Judiciary Committee outlining our numerous concerns with the bill. You can read our letter here:

Take Action TODAY!

1) Email the Senate Judiciary Committee Members:

Go to: https://secure.everyaction.com/GSrtgnUX5Ey_kFgi9Af6yg2?source=patrick.net

A Voice for Choice Advocacy has made it easy for you to email the Senators on the Judiciary Committee to ask them to Oppose SB 866. For legislators to read your email (and not assume it as a mass marketing campaign), it is important that your letter is personalized to your situation, so be sure to outline how SB 866 would affect you and your family. You can use some of the talking points from AVFCA's letter (but don't copy it!):

2) Make plans to come to Sacramento next Thursday to give public comment in person

3) Forward this email to anyone who believes in parental rights. Share this email on social media:

Over the past 7 years, A Voice for Choice Advocacy has established itself as the leading legislative organization lobbying in the California Capitol for your health rights. While A Voice for Choice Advocacy's lobbying activity in the Capitol is important, your positive constituent relationships with your CA State Senator and Assembly Member and their staff are critical to assisting with A Voice for Choice Advocacy's efforts in the Capitol.

Together we can make change happen!

SB 866 is Children's Health Defense, California's #1 concern. NO amendment can fix this bill. 15 year olds are minors and do NOT have the knowledge to make life-altering medical decisions.

Call to Action- July 25th – 29th:

We have word that the following legislators are on the fence about SB866, the bill which would allow minors 15 and up to receive the COVID-19 vaccine without parental consent or knowledge.

FIRST AND FOREMOST:

Call each one on this list and voice your position on the bill, even if you do NOT live in their district. If you are a constituent, please let them know.

SAN DIEGO COUNTY:
4) David Alvarez, San Diego (619) 338-8090

SOLANO COUNTY:
5) Lori Wilson, Fairfield (707) 399-3011

ORANGE COUNTY:
7) Tom Daly, Anaheim (714) 939-8469

LOS ANGELES COUNTY:
8) Lisa Calderon, City of Industry (562) 692-5858

If this bill passes, it will initiate a cascade effect and create a precedent from which we may never escape.
