Politics suck. Met my House Rep today (Federal). Nice person, doesn't have the same ideas as me. As I've said we're not all that far apart besides the far left or right. She's throwing a token grant to our town to get the rural vote in a ridiculously gerrymandered district. She's playing the game and she seemed defeated to be honest. Dem House reps are scared shitless right now having met with one. There's 435 of these people and I got an hour with one.
Some are scum for sure, but I actually had a good encounter. Not sure I'd vote for her even after meeting her, but was a really nice, genuine person and I have massive trust issues.
I think our views get way too skewed based on media and commercials. Media is the devil. I'd never want state run media, but what we get is shit from the private sector. I really don't have an answer, not that anyone asked. Our country is weird in a good way even with divisiveness. She was really chill. Honestly I got the vibe she was high on weed. Our district is purple so she may have been playing the crowd.
My fellow board members are all women except one other dude and me. None of them clearly had done any sales job. It was embarrassing. The fawning over a US House Rep was annoying to me. She's just a human. Power changes people, but she legitimately was there to help our community. You don't need to suck the shit out of her ass. Be normal.

Politicians lie, but for a first time meeting a Federal House representative, she was chill and I don't agree with her politics. My former state rep was there too and my kids hang out with his grandkids.
My role is minor in the funding we're getting. $2M is a lot of fucking money to most people, especially in small town America. We'll hopefully get it if the Senate approves the bill later this fall or winter. It's earmarked for our project in basically a pork barrel bill. Kind a crazy to be honest.

We're building and I'm 90% sure I'm going to GC the job. I have almost all the trades lined up and I haven't picked up a phone, email or text. We'll talk with a municipal engineer about building and the fucking guy stops talking and calls a concrete or window guy for us.
We didn't ask. Really hard for me as an introvert, but I'm catching on big time. It's fucked up what people will just do for you.
