Germany faces its greatest economic crisis since the Second World War, thanks to the unrelenting idiocy of our political and media classes.

For about a week now, gas has not been flowing through Nord Stream 1, the crucial pipeline from Russia to Germany. Officially, it’s down for scheduled maintenance, and we’ve even been treated to a minor farce, featuring Robert Habeck pleading with Canada to violate their own sanctions and return to Russia a pipeline turbine that had been shipped there for repairs. Unofficially, of course, we’re being squeezed, as an inducement to stop our war-prolonging material support to Ukraine, and for our imprudent bellicosity towards the country that keeps our lights on.

It turns out that Russia can do without German automobiles, but Germany can’t do without Russian gas.

I'm happy to see Europe's refusal to talk to negotiate and instead just being puppets of the US finally have consequences that people can no longer deny. The last 20 years of policy have been nothing but disaster for the West - from importing immigrants, to unrelenting and pointless war. I think the chickens are coming home to roost.

I recall a discussion about this in 2009 with my German brother in law.

I think it is already over. When I travelled in Germany circa 2010, it was a really nice country, enjoyed visit/beer/scenery/people a lot. In 2018 it was already fucked up, trains not departing on time, trash all over larger cities, and diversity of the worst kind in train stations. If I would be a womyn or a smaller male, I'd be afraid. This June I flew through Munich and airport had turned to shithole, worse than in Warsaw or even Vilnius. Flights delayed/cancelled all over place, almost nowhere to eat, the only service was blaring on interterminal trains that boarding without masks is verboten.

There are still plenty of nicer smaller or mid-size cities where everything works which are very beautiful, largely powered by local wealth which is looking out for their local environments as opposed to the US where people stop caring beyond their privately secured driveway. But yeah, most large cities governed by leftoids are - like in the US - mostly fucked by now.
