That's super dumbed down, but basically, if the LED exposure does not use a curved surface, the light is emitted in a spatially non-uniform way that can cause a number of health issues. This would include cellphones, computers, anything that emits high amounts of blue light.

I was aware of the damage to the eye, but not the brain and lifespan info. There's a couple documents with this submission, definitely worth reading.
