Sweden to pay migrants who’ve failed to integrate nearly €31,000 to return home — even those with citizenship

Sweden's new Migration Minister Johan Forssell described the plan as a "paradigm shift" in the Scandinavian country's migration policy

Sweden has announced plans to pay migrants 350,000 SEK (€30,809) to return to their homeland in a new voluntary remigration scheme proposed by the center-right government.

Remix News was one of few English-language sites to report on the plans proposed last month by then Migration Minister Maria Stenergard and reviewed by the Swedish justice ministry.

“For those who have not entered Swedish society, remigration can be a way to create a better life for themselves,” Stenergard said at the time.

“This is one of several ways we achieve sustainable immigration that strengthens integration and reduces exclusion,” she added.

This week, Stenergard was appointed the new foreign secretary and succeeded by Johan Forssell who announced the new policy on Thursday.

“Migrants who voluntarily return to their home countries from 2026 onwards will be eligible to receive 350,000 Swedish kronor (€31,000),” he said. Even those with Swedish citizenship will be eligible.

Forssell, whose appointment was backed by the right-wing Sweden Democrats who influence government policy, said upon starting his new role that the government must commit to remigration and abandon the open borders policies of the previous liberal administrations.

“The important thing now is that we should not return to the previous policy, which after all put Sweden in a very difficult situation. A lot of people were affected by it,” he told Aftonbladet.



“It is clear that it is an important issue for Sweden and for this government,” he added.

The country, previously lauded as a migrant magnet and known for its hospitality, has cracked down on the number of new arrivals permitted after a radical cultural shift across the country that has seen crime and particularly gang warfare skyrocket.

Sweden isn’t the first European nation to give migrants a golden handshake upon leaving the bloc. Last month in Germany, convicted criminals including child rapists were handed €1,000 upon their flight back to Afghanistan, although these, however, were forced deportations and only amounted to 28 people.

Earlier this year, the Swedish government announced it was toughening up its family reunification laws to slash immigration with income requirements expected to increase and extra DNA testing to prove relations is likely to be rolled out.

Last month, Stockholm announced that for the first time in 50 years the country had seen net emigration over the past 12 months. These figures were contested, however, by some right-wing groups with some claiming the government has ramped up naturalizations to massage the figures.

I’m not buying tickets yet, but maybe Sweden is onto something. The Deep Dive ran a story late last week headlined, “Sweden Introduces New ‘Remigration Check’ Policy, Raising Concerns Over Forced Migrant Exits.”

The article pointed out that a migrant family of four would get $140,000, enough to afford a home or land in most parts of Africa and the Middle East. To put down roots. Supporters pointed out it’s a good deal all around, since Sweden is already spending much more than that on inefficient welfare for the migrants.

You would think a policy like this would be a liberal’s wildest dream. It transfers more wealth from the first world to the third world. It sets up migrants to succeed in their own countries and helps them escape poverty. It’s a giant handout.

But no; Swedish leftists hate the idea. Because it’s mean.

Practical problems quickly suggest themselves. For a plan like this to work, a country must first close its borders, or else migrants will be encouraged to come, turn around, and claim their severance packages, a sort of money-grabbing lazy-Susan. But if handled right, if the borders were closed, it might work.

You may be familiar with the term "Stockholm syndrome," in which someone becomes attached to their captor or kidnapper, effectively becoming brainwashed into aligning themselves with someone trying to harm them.

So you know it's a big deal when Sweden — which pretty much owns the naming rights to Stockholm syndrome! — is doing this:

And this isn't just a one-off thing. The Swedish government already tried this last year and decided to kick its efforts into overdrive:

The proposed increase aims to make the offer more attractive, especially for the several hundred thousand migrants in Sweden who are unemployed or reliant on state benefits, according to Sweden Democrats (SD) spokesman Ludvig Aspling.

You do have to imagine that even the lure of $34,000 won't be enough to deter many migrants from those sweet, sweet Swedish "state benefits."

Methinks most of them will decline to go back to Afghanistan and Syria!

The country "received over 250,000 asylum seekers since mid-2023," so you can imagine how acutely desperate they're getting.

Color me skeptical that the Swedish government has enough money to fix this problem.
There's only one way out of this mess, and it doesn't involve "tolerance and inclusion."

As Remix News previously reported, the Swedish government is making a significant monetary offer of 350,000 Swedish kroner to foreigners living in Sweden to voluntarily return home. It is also important to note that this amount would be paid out per person, which means a family of four could receive €124,000.

Still, these foreigners are so desperate to live in Sweden, a majority White country, that the vast majority of them said they would reject the offer, according to a poll conducted by the website Alkompis.

The poll showed that 77 percent of those questioned in the survey said that they were not even interested in the increased amount, and only 15 percent said that they would be interested in the offer. The others are uncertain.

However, of those 15 percent who said they were interested in the offer, it is possible that very few of them would actually go ahead and accept the offer. Despite these low numbers, even a small percentage of foreigners accepting the offer could result in tens of thousands of people remigrating.

The poll also revealed that 90 percent of the more than 2,700 respondents had already heard about the increased repatriation subsidy.

The poll also asked the respondents if they would be open to accepting an even higher amount, and it is important to note a strong majority said they would never accept any offer. Theoretically, even if they were offered millions of euros to return to their homelands, they would still not take the offer.

Last year, Switzerland imprisoned 9,297 people, with 67 percent of them foreigners, according to the Swiss Federal Statistical Office. The number of foreigners in the prison population has tripled since the 1980s.

Men still account for the vast majority of offenders, accounting for 90.6 percent of all prisoners, while 9.4 percent of all prisoners are women.

The rate of foreigners in Swiss prisons has remained relatively stable over the last 10 years, but the overall number of prisoners has also jumped significantly.

The vast majority of prisoners are incarcerated for minor offenses, such as petty theft. In some cases, if offenders are unable or unwilling to pay a fine, they can be incarcerated in Switzerland. Many prisoners are serving sentences between five and 90 days.

It is unclear the exact breakdown of the foreign prison population in 2023. Switzerland has many foreign European nationals residing in the country, but many of those arrested and imprisoned are non-EU nationals.

In 2020, the greatest share of foreigners in Swiss prisons were Algerians. In second place were Romanians.

In Germany, over half of the prison population is made up of foreigners, and they are costing German taxpayers nearly €2 billion per year.

To show me just how bad gang crime has become in Sweden, all journalist Diamant Salihu has to do is forward a few mobile phone messages. At first glance, they look like spam, written in garish fonts and promising large sums of money, there to be earned. It’s only on closer examination that the purpose of the pistol and skull emojis becomes clear.

These are so-called “murder ads” – posted online by gang leaders, offering bounties to anyone willing to carry out the hits.

“All types of jobs are available,” reads one, promising up to one million krona (£78,000). “Age doesn’t matter”, adds another – explaining why many of Sweden’s new contract killers aren’t hardened hitmen, but children. Part of the problem, some say, is that Swedish law dictates anyone aged under 15 is too young to be prosecuted.

“We have so many child soldiers that nobody can count anymore,” sighs Salihu, an investigative reporter for SVT, Sweden’s answer to the BBC. “There are kids as young as 13 being arrested.”

Barely a week passes in Sweden today without a teenager being arrested for such a hit, keeping Salihu extremely busy, and the public in the grip of a national crisis like no other before it. A softly-spoken former tabloid journalist, the 41-year-old could be a character from a Scandi-noir novel, shining light in society’s darker corners. The body count on his beat, though, is far higher than any Stieg Larsson novel, and holds out little prospect of a satisfactory ending.

What is even far more revealing are the contents of the Babylonian & Jerusalem Talmuds, which are the collective writings of numerous Rabbis throughout the ages. In fact, these were what Jesus was referring to when he condemned the Jews for following the "commandments of men, rather than the commandments of God."

A lot of the stuff in the Talmuds are downright frightening.

The 42-year-old suspect, Cwan Hassan, is accused of embarking on a violent axe attack in Sollefteå back on May 13 that left a 50-year-old man with a deep leg wound.

Court records and immigration files reviewed by the Samnytt news outlet show that Hassan should have been expelled from Sweden more than a decade ago, but was allowed to remain after authorities ruled that returning him to Syria was not possible.

Hassan first arrived in Sweden in July 2008 and applied for a residence permit for himself, his wife, and their children. The Swedish Migration Board rejected the application in December that year, finding that the family did not meet the criteria for asylum. The decision was upheld upon appeal in March 2010, with the presiding court noting that the family’s accounts contained “serious credibility deficiencies” and that their shifting statements undermined their claim. The court’s ruling noted that these inconsistencies “could not be ignored.”

Hassan further appealed to the Migration Court of Appeal, but his request for leave to appeal was denied, making the expulsion order final. Despite the decision, Hassan remained in Sweden. In November 2012, he lodged an enforcement objection, and officials at the time concluded that deporting him to Syria was not feasible. On that basis, he was granted permanent residence.

Since receiving residency, Hassan has been convicted of multiple crimes. His record includes repeated assaults on his wife, use of a false document, shoplifting, and several counts of illegal driving. In one previous incident, he assaulted the same man who was later the victim in the axe attack.

While riding a municipal bus in Uppsala, I had the opportunity to observe a group of high school students. In one seat were a few Swedish boys, of the bespectacled, well-behaved, and soft-spoken variety typical of Sweden’s intermediate professional classes. In the seat next to them was a small group of Swedish girls. Behind the girls were some Arab boys, who were engaged in pulling the girls’ hair and otherwise tormenting and teasing them, much to the girls’ displeasure. In other circumstances this might have been an innocent, even light-hearted scene, and there was a part of me that was amused by the Arab boys’ antics and the girls’ protests, but the rigid posture of the Swedish lads, the way they carefully looked anywhere but at the Arab boys, gave the scene a tense, dark aura.

Here in microcosm was a holographic fragment of Sweden’s peculiar sociological madness. The Swedish boys were clearly deeply uncomfortable with the way the Arab kids were treating what they could not but instinctively think of as their women; whether their discomfort was due to the Arab boys’ discourteous behaviour, or due to displeasure at these foreigners getting the attention of girls the way boys have always done, the fact of their discontent was obvious. The lads radiated a desire to intervene, but their inaction turned their anger into a futile and pathetic thing.

These boys had been raised to be good feminists and anti-racists. Whether they personally bought into these ideologies was immaterial, for they certainly understood the consequences of transgressing them. As good feminists, the girls were meant to be able to take care of themselves. If they wanted help, they’d ask for it; moreover, they certainly weren’t anyone’s tribal property, so the Swedish boys had no standing to protect their women from foreigners. As to the Arabs, the Swedish boys were trapped in the double-bind of anti-racist multiculturalism, in which they must simultaneously ignore race and be acutely conscious of it: they must not think of the Arabs as members of a foreign and hostile tribe, but simply as Swedes just like themselves; yet at the same time, should they assert themselves against the Arab boys, they would certainly be harshly punished for this expression of racism.

For the girls’ part, I had no doubt that they would have much preferred the Arab kids to stop. Their body language was not of the sort that teenage girls use when they’re being teased by boys whose attention they are pleased to have. Yet they too were trapped by the antiracist imperative to avoid offending New Swedes by any means necessary, while also being prevented from asking for the help of the Swedish boys because, after all, they had been raised to be strong, independent women. Possibly some part of them felt angry at the Swedish boys for not standing up for them.

As for the Arabs, neither the strictures of feminism nor those of anti-racism applied to them one bit, and they knew this quite well. Thus they felt no compunctions about taking liberties with the girls. Doubtless any attempt to stop them would have been met with unabashed racial verbal abuse and quite possibly physical violence. From the point of view of the Arab boys, the Swedish girls were nothing but whores, and as for the Swedish boys – who were required by feminism to defer to the girls – well, they were obviously even lower than whores, contemptuous creatures of no account.
