President Trump announces “Anti-Communism Week” at the White House to mourn the 100 million lives lost

President Trump announced “Anti-Communism Week” at the White House, mourning the 100 million lives lost due to oppression and atrocities under communist regimes. This declaration was made during his presidency, especially amid increasing criticism of China and other countries with communist governments.

“Anti-Communism Week” aims to remind people around the world, particularly Americans, of the severe consequences and losses brought about by communist regimes. The figure of 100 million lives typically refers to the large-scale deaths, persecutions, and human rights disasters caused by communist regimes in the 20th century, including in the Soviet Union, China, Cambodia, North Korea, and other countries. Trump’s statement emphasized that the world must remember these historical lessons and work to prevent such events from happening again.

Trump has frequently criticized communism, especially China’s governance. His announcement of “Anti-Communism Week” serves as both a commemoration of historical events and a warning about the current global political situation. This proposal has sparked widespread discussion both domestically and internationally, particularly in the fields of international politics and human rights. It encourages more people to reflect on historical lessons and the political situation today.

The announcement was made on the “National Day for the Victims of Communism.” Trump wrote, “This week, our nation holds Anti-Communism Week, solemnly commemorating the devastation caused by one of the most destructive ideologies in history.”

Common features of communist rule include the destruction of family structures, the abolition of traditional societal morals, and the suppression of religious and spiritual freedoms. In the statement, Trump honored those whose lives were taken by totalitarian regimes, saying, “These regimes sought to eradicate faith, suppress freedom, destroy prosperity earned through hard work, and violate the inalienable human rights and dignity of the oppressed.”

Trump wrote in the announcement, “As we remember them, we reaffirm our nation’s commitment: resolutely oppose communism, uphold the cause of freedom and human dignity, and reaffirm that no government system can replace the will and conscience of free people.” He highlighted the progress made since the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991 and the end of the Cold War, while also warning of the subversive and stubborn nature of tyranny.

The statement continued: “New voices today repeat old lies, cloaked in the names of ‘social justice’ and ‘democratic socialism,’ but their message remains unchanged: surrender your freedom, place trust in government power, accept hollow comforts of control in exchange for promises of prosperity.”

The statement pointed out the common methods of infiltration into Western societies, including the spreading of misinformation, divisive rhetoric, the polarization of issues, and the manipulation of political movements to amplify pro-communist messages.

At a recent “No Kings” rally in Washington, slogans promoting communist ideology were seen, and The Epoch Times observed dozens of pro-communist banners and signs at protests surrounding the 2024 Democratic National Convention in Chicago. Some radicals have called for the abolition of private property and the dismantling of existing social structures. These messages echo communist arguments that order must be established through political strife and chaos.

Although the slogans depict this movement as a fight for workers and ordinary people, history repeatedly shows that communism ultimately leads to totalitarian control. Currently, approximately 1.5 billion people live in five countries with communist regimes. Most of these people reside in China, with others in Cuba, Laos, North Korea, and Vietnam.

Since 1949, the Chinese Communist Party has maintained strict control over society, using methods such as imprisonment, organ harvesting, and murder to force citizens into submission. Communist regimes have consistently sought to eradicate traditional values, aiming to elevate the regime as the ultimate moral authority and concentrating power at the top of the system.

The President’s announcement emphasized that the United States “rejects this evil doctrine” and reaffirmed its commitment to the founding principles of the nation. “No ideology, whether from abroad or within, can extinguish [these founding principles],” the statement read.

“We mourn the oppressed victims, continue their cause, and ensure that communism and all systems that deny the rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness will ultimately be swept into the ashes of history,” Trump wrote.

Among the many non-profit organizations focused on communism, the Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation, based in Washington, is advocating for a world “freed from the false hopes of communism.” In a statement, the organization said, “Communism has always been incompatible with freedom, prosperity, and respect for life, and will continue to be so in the future. We must remember: despite its promises of equality and liberation, it only strips people of their most fundamental rights and freedoms.”

(National Day for the Victims of Communism),川普写道:“本周,我国举行了反共产主义周,庄严纪念史上最具破坏性意识形态之一所造成的浩劫。”
