First American Muslim officer in his precinct. The Mayor heralded Noors induction into the force. I want to take a moment to recognize Officer Mohamed Noor, the newest Somali officer in the Minneapolis Police Department, she wrote. They held celebrations. In 2016, though, she wrote a lengthy Facebook post that praised the hiring of Noor. A city newsletter said Noor was hired in March 2015 and is Fifth Precincts first

Oh sure, now that a blonde woman was shot by a black Muslim cop, it's OK to acknowledge that cops murder, but what about the ten thousand other times we've seen stories of cops murdering innocent, unarmed people and everyone was like "cops don't commit crimes"? This shit has been going on a long, long time.

I had three cops commit a Breaking and Entering at our house at 3am on a Saturday morning earlier this Summer. Fortunately for all of us, my dog passed earlier this year, and I'm not one of the nutjobs that sleeps with loaded guns at my bedside.

If I did that, I'd be spending years in prison. Sadly, there's no accountability, or recourse for me to put these cowards to justice. So now I'm looking to move far enough away from these government sanctioned, armed, freedom hating, gang of domestic terrorists.

27   anonymous   2017 Jul 18, 2:50pm

I've noticed a yuge uptick of people posting the term ' police state' recently, and all I can think is holy shit these people don't get out often. Like this is something new.

Three weeks prior to that B&E, my neighbor bought a safe at the local drug task force auction. They scooped it for $5 because it was locked and there was no key.

When I first heard the story this far, I interrupted him with "NO FUCKING WAY. No chance the drug task force siezed a safe as evidence, and then sold it at auction, because they didn't know how to get it open without a key. For $5???" And you wanted to be a part of that mess?

So they crack it open, and it was filled with hard drugs and some stale grass. With the young nephews watching. So he panics and doesn't know what to do. They are Chilean immigrants and he has a very Spanish sounding name. He assumes that he could now be at risk of great danger. His brother is a well known local business owner, so he took possession of the safe and contents, and called the local police department, tells them the story..."hello, I have a safe here that's full of hard drugs, can you come pick it up?". They said No! That he should call the city police who he purchased them from!!

At this point, he figures best to call his attorney for advice, who suggested he call the DA. The DA took his phone call while getting out the shower and they said he was barely dry or dressed when he raced over to get the safe. He paid them $20 out of his pocket, and asked that they keep this between them. Wtf

It's mind blowing that a once great nation such as ours, with a populace once hellbent on preserving their freedoms, has fallen so far. You have got to be oblivious to reality to defend LE in this country, ever.

Oh sure, Dan. Now that a Black cop shoots a white woman I don't hear you yell at the top of your lungs "murder murder. Cops are killers"
In my case I always give the benefit of the doubt to the cop, though I don't know the details of this case.

MURDER MURDER. COPS ARE KILLERS. Furthermore, this particular cop is a cold-blooded murderer.

Happy?

If this criminal cop goes unprosecuted, then yes, it is every bit as bad as every other murder by criminal cops left unprosecuted. Unlike you, race doesn't matter to me unless it's intrinsic to the case. I'm consistent with my principle that no one, not even cops, are above the law. You could try being consistent in your hatred of criminals.

The outrage over police crimes isn't even that the police commit such great crimes abusing state power and public trust, as bad as that is. No. It's that the police are never, ever prosecuted for crimes unless their is both video evidence and enormous public outrage, and even then only rarely. The scandal is that the state allows police to commit crimes with impunity. That is what I have always complained about, and if you were as anti-crime as you like to portray yourself, then you'd be on my side on this issue.

The Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) of the Minnesota Department of Public Safety said it was investigating, although there appeared to be no video because the officers' body cameras were switched off.

The police department said the squad car's camera also failed to capture the incident.

Turned off body camera and staying outside the squad car's camera? Clear indication of criminal intent.

There's a huge difference between the benefit of the doubt and looking the other way. Cops should be treated no differently in criminal investigations and prosecutions than anyone else. They should be given no more or less benefit of the doubt. The standard for innocent until proven guilty should be applied equally to all. That said, the history of the U.S. doesn't give the benefit of the doubt, it makes excuses for outright crimes proven beyond any reasonable doubt when those crimes are committed by cops. This is unacceptable. Having a badge should never be a get out of jail free card.

Using the power of the state to commit a crime or to get away with it only makes the crime worse.

Then clearly you don't know me. My statements have always been entirely consistent with each other. They just aren't consistent with the straw man of me you built in your head so you didn't have to deal with the real me. My position on this case is entirely predictable. I think that the cop should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law for his crimes just like I think every cop and every non-cop should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. The one and only principles I have ever stated in police crime cases is equality under the law and no one is above the law.

The entire public outrage over police crimes has always been about the state choosing not to prosecute cops for crimes precisely because they are cops.

Strategist says

Ah...now this is the Dan I know.

So you disagree with the principle that no one is above the law. That is one of your fundamental flaws.

Thank you -- H

Our 16 years old kid was busted for curfew at ~2am, 30 minutes from home. The Regional Police that took her into custody, left her call us to wake us up and go pick her up. It was the end to a long week, and we were out cold, so the 17 missed calls from her didn't wake either of us. So I guess he phoned in to our local police. We live in a small town on a college campus, so there's University Police, and Borough Police. In the summer, this leaves them with even less to do than usual, so this particular matter warranted them sending over three cops, from three different units ( the third was a city cop).

So I guess the banged on our doors for 20-30 minutes and got no response. Which led them to think hey let's just let ourselves in! So I wake up to these nitwits pounding on MY BEDROOM DOOR (this requires walking through the entire property from the front door, trampling the carpet with their filthy shoes, uninvited). "POLICE, POLICE!! OPEN THE DOOR". We sleep naked, so when you are woken to this insanity, with the only thing you can see is multiple flashlights strobing through the bottom of the bedroom door, it's heart attack time. I did manage to halfway put some underwear on, and race to open the door. The dickhead front and center is all awkward looking at my junk and I see all three of these losers looking over my shoulder to catch a glimpse of my lady's jugs.

I'm about to vomit upon seeing three different uni's in my house, certain that one of the kids was killed in a car accident. "What happened? Who's dead!?" I asked. This blubbering idiot stutters "oh no, everyone is ok, your daughter was picked up for curfew in Maytown". So I'm instantly relieved, and immediately followed with rage. Assessing the situation (three armed 'men' at my bedroom door) I noticed a familiar face on the city cop behind him. It was the same motherfucker that broke into my parents house ~20 years ago because he looked in the window and thought we were cooking meth?? When in reality we were just lubing the girls up with some Lemon Drops.

So now all I'm seeing is red. "So if this is just a benign curfew thing, why in the fuck are yous in my house!?"

Pig: "well we knocked for awhile and when no one answer it becomes a thing, like we have to make sure you're alright and there's no burglary " or some bullshit excuse

Me: " so you knocked on my door and when I don't answer you just break in?"

Pig:" we didn't break in, the door was open"

Me :" the door was open!? Like hanging open?"

Pig:" well no, it was unlocked "

At this point I can't look at this moron any longer all I can see is the city cop from the past and all I envision is me throwing him down the steps. So I screamed "we can finish this the fuck outside ", and I start pushing them down stairs. All the while these losers are eyeing my junk and salivating like rabid dogs. Worst shit I've had to deal with in forever

Imagine they did this at an actual criminals house, and spoiled the ability to use any evidence. It's so beyond fucked. But not as fucked as the task force auction selling my neighbor a safe from evidence locker, filled with heroine and cocaine

37   Indiana Jones   2017 Jul 19, 11:39am

There does seem to be a different reaction to this police killing.

http://www.cnn.com/2017/07/19/us/minneapolis-shooting-upended-outrage-trnd/index.html

"There's a predictable pattern to the aftermath of too many deadly police shootings: Neighbors and anti-police brutality groups take to the streets. Groups supporting the officers stand up for them. Social media lights up over whether the victim "did something" to provoke the officer.
But none of that holds true in the case of Justine Ruszczyk, a white Australian bride-to-be who was killed by Mohamed Noor, a Somali-American black police officer in Minneapolis.
And that, say experts, speaks volumes about the state of America today."

http://www.cnn.com/2017/07/19/opinions/justine-ruszczyk-shooting-opinion-love/index.html

"The recent shooting death of Justine Ruszczyk by police officer Mohamed Noor in Minneapolis is a reminder of the problem of police violence and lethal force in that city and around the nation. This case comes only a month after a former police officer in a nearby suburb, Jeronimo Yanez, was found not guilty in the July 2016 fatal shooting of Philando Castile.

This most recent case, however, does not adhere to the typical pattern, in which the victim is black and the offending police officer is not."

Unless their procedure is to turn on body cams when exiting the car. As for squad car camera: it hangs on the windshield and points forward. How the fuck could it capture a cop sitting inside and shooting through the driver's window?

That jumpy moron probably overreacted when that poor woman suddenly stepped out of darkness. Not a fucking excuse, of course, but "criminal intent"?

39   Dan8267   2017 Jul 19, 2:49pm

If the situation were reversed and a civilian avoided cameras and shot a cop, you'd call that criminal intent.

And what possible reason could justify lowering the window and shooting the person instead of shouting "police, freeze" or driving the car away from the situation?

Shoot first and ask questions later is criminal intent.

Also, get your story straight with your buddy Strategist. I can't be both unwilling to call this cop a criminal and too willing to do so.

Explain the Nigerian success story in America then. Why are Nigerian immigrants (black as can be) such success stories on a super high percentage, even topping the average for Asian immigrants? How about Jamaican and Haitian immigrants? Still doing great. But Somalis have a problem, not just in finland but in the USA as well. Are the Nigerians any less black? So we come back to culture being the problem. As it always is. Not race. Culture. Not all cultures are equal. Some produce wonders. Others produce misery.

Agreed. Historically, the US legal immigration model has been a smashing success because we select for people who believe in Western democracy, the values of the Enlightenment, and individual responsibility and entrepreneurship. And the newcomers keep raising the bar. Europe does not get this for some reason.

Many Nigerian immigrants educated themselves back in Nigeria, which has a British Style Education System, and most apply through the usual immigration channels.

Most Somalians are barbarian 4th Worlders who come through via pressure groups using refugee/asylee programs. If they have any education at all, it was from an Islamist Salafi/Wahabi Madrassah.

The official language of Nigeria is English and, to some extent, Nigerians come through a merit-based immigration system. That's a great start right there and exactly what many (including Trump) propose for all immigrants.
56   SunnyvaleCA   2019 Mar 21, 11:17am

This type of immigration will bankrupt Finland. At that point, quality of life with crash and immigration will stop, since Finland will be a worse place to live than wherever it is that immigrants are coming from. (At least people who stay in Somalia aren't freezing to death 6 months of the year.)

The Nigerian immigrants who do well in the US are almost entirely Igbo.

The Igbo are first of all Christians, so not about to murder anybody in the name of religion, and second of all, the overachievers of Africa. They are well known in Nigeria for their business skills and determination. They were massacred in large numbers by the Muslims during the Biafran War:

@Partrick
Finland is running a debt to GDP ratio of 61%. This cannot be caused by refugees alone so this means that Finns cost more than zero. The author does not say why or how native born Finns were set at zero but the interpretation given to these figures by the author and many of the readers would be that Finns use up exactly as much government resources as they pay in taxes over their lifetime. Bullshit. Finland runs a deficit which exceed the expenditures on refugees.
And since when is running a government a cost-benefit analysis? Should Finland, or any country, euthanize all handicapped because they are a net frain on society? This article is just racist xenophobia disguised as economic analysis.
