Okay, I just read through the tangent thread to figure out what I'm supposed to be weighing in on. I would post there, but I'm ambivalent.

I already feel guilty about clogging up the blog with our off-topic stuff even down here in the shed. I think it's fine to keep the tangent thread where it is, because it does have an interesting and relevant topic, but I guess I don't really want to go off on a tangent on it while it's up there on top. ;-)

So I vote to keep it. And now that I think about the deleting issue a bit more, I think deleting all the stuff you talked about last night would send a bad message, after all the controversy over deleting yesterday. I'd just leave it as is. :-)

I think the tangent thread is a really good thing, now that I've considered it more. No longer ambivalent. It's got an interesting topic, should anyone want to discuss, but it can also serve as a sort of release valve for some of us tangent-prone types. :-)

SQT, I don't know many writers who actually like poetry, so, no, I don't think it's required. :-)

I'm still trying to make up for making Jack feel badly last night. I think I didn't apologize: I"m sorry!

So SQT, I took my son to karate for the first time this week, and I kept thinking of you. And then I realized, I'm the one who should be taking karate, not him. My husband always says I should take up boxing or something because I have lots of pent-up rage, LOL, and so karate seems like a better alternative than boxing. For me, anyway.

But the instructor kind of sucks.

No one ever sees it but my husband.

The instructor might be fine for adults. He's just not good for a flakey head-in-the-clouds 5-yr-old. :-) I think my son is too young for it, or not ready (though he thought he was until he got in the class), so I'm not going to take him back. Maybe when he's older.

I might try it in a few more years. I'm too busy right now and usually get out all my agression running. I like it because I can do it alone.

Yeah, I think he thought it would be just like wrestling with his dad. But he is extremely UN-agressive, so it's kind of a joke for him to try it now, not understanding any of it really.

Watching the small kids, I thought it was interesting to see that the little girls seemed to take it more seriously than the boys. The boys seemed to be there just because they wanted to be power rangers or something, whereas the girls (mostly) were paying more attention. It was fun to watch, anyway.
