@MolotovCocktailThanks, I will try to reproduce....

Huh, cannot reproduce. So you:

1. hit "new thread"
2. leave title blank
3. upload photo without typing anything in text box

And then the page reloads?

I don't actually have any javascript that ever reloads a page, I think.

Yes. That is what happens. Three times.

Mulipart uploads can trigger form submissions. In the old days I used to fix it with javascript:void() or on the handler function with e.stop() or both.

javascript:void(0) is used in HTML to create a link that does not navigate to a new page or perform any action when clicked. It allows JavaScript code to run without reloading the current page, making it useful for triggering functions or displaying content dynamically.

But I am not sure what is going on here. Strange.

What browser and OS are you on?

It's a single upload, so should not be split into multiple parts. How large is that image? Maybe it's triggering some limit. Can you email me the image?

But I was able to upload and post the other way. This one:

On Android. DuckDuckGo.

I'm gonna bring back this request. An ignore feature on a THREAD, not the user themselves. I only use the active tab at the top. Certain threads are active that I just scroll by. Still allow the ability to search it, but I see 5-8 of the same threads on a daily basis, some for years now. They just clutter it up.

I'm sure some people would ignore my threads so it's not a user issue. It's a topic issue. Some are lame or just repeat threads but people comment on all the repeat threads so they stay in the active tab.

I'm not sure if this is difficult, but seeing some of the same stuff day after day after day is like Groundhog day. If I could make it go away that would be nice. Again, not the user, just the thread.
612   Patrick   2025 May 21, 10:00am

@WookieMan

OK, I can do that. I think it's probably 2 or 3 hours of work. I'll look into it today.
613   Patrick   2025 May 21, 9:08pm

@WookieMan

OK, I did it. Now there is a "hide" link after "pin" at the top of each thread.
614   WookieMan   2025 May 22, 3:22am

Perfect! Thanks.

Give a review of patrick.net

GPT-4o mini:
**Review of Patrick.net**

Patrick.net is a website that has gained attention for its unique perspective on real estate, housing markets, and economic trends. Founded by Patrick Killelea, the site serves as a platform for discussions around housing affordability, market analysis, and the implications of economic policies on the real estate sector.

### Content and Community

The site features a mix of articles, forum discussions, and user-generated content, making it a vibrant community for those interested in real estate. Users can engage in discussions about various topics, including housing prices, market predictions, and personal finance strategies. The community is known for its candid and sometimes controversial opinions, which can lead to lively debates.

### Strengths

1. **Independent Analysis**: Patrick.net is often praised for its independent stance on real estate issues. Killelea's insights are based on data and personal experience rather than traditional real estate narratives, which can sometimes be overly optimistic.

2. **Educational Resources**: The site provides valuable resources for renters and potential homebuyers, helping them understand the complexities of the housing market. This includes discussions on the financial implications of buying versus renting.

3. **Engaged Community**: The forum aspect of the site allows users to share experiences and advice, creating a supportive environment for those navigating the housing market.

### Criticisms

1. **Polarizing Views**: Some users find the discussions on Patrick.net to be polarizing, with strong opinions that may not resonate with everyone. This can lead to a divisive atmosphere, especially on contentious topics like housing policy and economic forecasts.

2. **Outdated Information**: While the site has a wealth of historical data and analysis, some users have noted that certain discussions may not reflect the most current market conditions or trends.

3. **User Experience**: The website's design and navigation can feel outdated compared to more modern platforms, which may deter some users from fully engaging with the content.

### Conclusion

Overall, Patrick.net is a valuable resource for those interested in real estate and economic discussions. Its independent analysis and engaged community make it a noteworthy platform, though potential users should be prepared for a range of opinions and a less polished user experience. Whether you're a renter, a homeowner, or simply curious about the housing market, Patrick.net offers a wealth of information and a space for meaningful dialogue.

The website's design is straightforward, streamlined, and very fast. It is a beacon of hope in a sea of bloated sites whose primary objective is to spew advertisements nonstop.
617   Patrick   2025 Jul 1, 9:30pm

Thanks @SunnyvaleCA

I just wish the site were more popular, but not sure how to get the word out. Search engines won't recommend it anymore.
618   MolotovCocktail   2025 Jul 18, 1:05pm

Patrick, wanna merge these two threads by timestamp?

https://patrick.net/post/619/2008-07-13-canada

https://patrick.net/post/1382776/2024-12-03-canada-thread

Since the first is oldest, it's post can be the one to merge into. But consider taking the Canadian flag image in the seconds post and putting it in the first as it stands out better in the PatNet feed.
619   Patrick   2025 Jul 19, 3:25pm

@MolotovCocktail

OK, done. It was pretty easy. Maybe I should have a "request to merge threads" link somewhere on each thread.

621   MolotovCocktail   2025 Aug 5, 2:44pm

Ok. @Patrick

Another thread amalgamation suggestion. This time it's on Demographics.

I propose this be the One Thread That Rules Them All: https://patrick.net/post/1346755/2022-07-22-demographics-thread

And these two be inserted in with entries cross-sorted by timestamp, then deleted:

https://patrick.net/post/1289455/2016-02-24-it-s-still-the-demography-stupid by @indigenous

And https://patrick.net/post/1381782/2024-08-01-asia-is-struggling-with-declining by @Ohomen171

unless those authors object?

627   The_Deplorable   2025 Sep 21, 12:38pm

@Patrick,

Pat, Please consider renaming your thread "Expose Charlie's Murderers"
to simply "Charlie Kirk." At this point we need a more focused Charlie
Kirk thread. Thanks.

Might want to consider merging some of the CK threads, too.

@The_Deporable @MolotovCocktail

OK, done. Now there is one thread:

Spamhaus is blocking patrick.net now, claiming that I'm a spammer, which I obviously am not.

I think someone reported it for political reasons.

You can all help by contacting them and telling them that patrick.net is not a spammer:

I get this:

638   Patrick   2025 Oct 1, 12:29pm

Look at the URL. Spamhaus is so fucked up that they redirect you to an invalid url instead of http://www.spamhaus.org/query/bl?ip=137.184.228.18

So after hitting then go back and put that url in again. Maybe that will help.

Mail from IP 137.184.228.18 was rejected due
to listing in Spamhaus SBL. For details please see

639   Patrick   2025 Oct 1, 12:32pm

Or maybe just go to https://www.spamhaus.org/ and put in 137.184.228.18 or patrick.net
640   MolotovCocktail   2025 Oct 3, 2:15am

I am getting 429 errors a lot now.
641   Patrick   2025 Oct 3, 9:05am

@MolotovCocktail

Thanks for telling me. I set the rate limit to one request every 2 seconds instead of every 4 seconds. That should help. The server is no longer being attacked so it seems safe.

Attempting to amalgamate all the China threads.

Which is proving to be difficult to curate. I am trying to pick those about China generically vs those particular about something happening in/with China involving others.

Turns out not to be that cut & dry.

Here's a few I've picked of the former category or close to it.

https://patrick.net/post/1377770/2022-11-24-meanwhile-in-china

https://patrick.net/post/1323556/2019-03-30-china-s-plan-to-be-only-superpower-by

https://patrick.net/post/1384483/2025-05-07-fuck-china-thread

https://patrick.net/post/1383268/2025-01-19-china-vs-us-gdp-discrepancy

https://patrick.net/post/1384345/2025-04-23-chinese-girlbosses-hitting-the-wall

https://patrick.net/post/1379981/2023-08-20-china-s-economy-is-showing-signs-of

And this is the new master China thread:

@MolotovCocktail

I'm going to make a function for me to use to do this easily. Too much typing into the db otherwise. Maybe I can make that tonight.

OK, done.
