Hewlett-Packard announced Wednesday that it is slashing 27,000 jobs in a widely expected maneuver aimed at slimming down the struggling tech giant.

The company expects the layoffs, which amount to 8% of its worldwide workforce, to save $3 billion to $3.5 billion by the end of 2014.

8% of it's worldwide workforce, but not evenly distributed. I suspect that it's 0% layoffs in third world nations like China and India and 30% layoffs in first world nations like America and Western European nations.

Ah, the way you can hide the truth with numbers...

Big companies like this always lay off Americans while increasing the number of warm bodies in third world nations that have, in effect, economic slavery. Maybe Newt is right and we should just let our children work in factories instead of us adults. Worked in the 19th century, right?

And Apple will hire 4000 more in TEXAS as soon as their building ($300 million) is finished.
HP sucks. Their web site sucks, it's amazing. They are so lame.
Oh, but I hear the printer ink business is very profitable.
Wait, I got a Samsung laser printer ($57) which won't need a toner for about 10 years or so ;)
