Realtors have two motives.
1- Get one to buy something.
2- Get one to pay the highest possible price.

If you must use a realtor, cover your ass at all times, never let your guard down, double check everything, and do not assume, for one second, that the realtor actually knows the law.
Real Estate Lawyers know the law. Home inspectors know about repair issues. Then there's the Title Company. Look to a Realtor to list your house in the MLS and find a buyer. When buying a home do your own research and hire the right person for the task at hand.
