I did some research and this appears to be the situation: For starters, it's not a "currency bill" but rather a tariff against Chinese imports in retaliation for China artificially manipulating their currency to make exports to the USA more attractive. In addition, Obama isn't very interested in starting a trade war. Finally, the US's currency is already dog pee due to the Fed printing up money and buying Chinese windmills.
Regarding the Democrats' croc tears about jobs for "the middle class", Robert Reich said:

Shouldn't you Dems be happy that jobs and wealth is going to China? Aren't they a "minority?"
