The Food and Drug Administration today released an electronic version of its environmental assessment for a genetically modified salmon developed by AquaBounty Technologies—effectively giving its preliminary seal of approval on the first transgenic animal to be considered for federal approval.

Not a fan of this.

I have no issues with genetic modification, but I don't trust how accurately they can assess the impact of these salmon if they get out into the ocean. Plus salmon farming itself is dumb. Salmon are carnivorous so they have to be fed other fish to grow. Hello? Why not just eat the other fish?

Also, farmed salmon tastes terrible.

I don't know what to say...

We are in a brave new world.

I will not eat anymore Salmon unless it's labeled!

I like my GM modified foods labeled!

Just find good salmon. You will know when you eat it.

I only eat raw, cured, or poached salmon.

You don't want to eat trademarked Salmon?

or trademarked seeds from Monsanto using roundup?

Why not, a little genetic diversity is fun for all the family.

Food is becoming more and more OWNED. I'm surprised Apple has not gotten in this business yet.

Well, choice is a good thing. I am not against genetically modified food. But consumers are free to choose.

Yeah, labeling would be good.

Not in this country. They don't label and hence consumers are not free to choose. In Europe they do label and so consumers have a choice.

They don't want us to choose! That's the truth.

They want to force feed it to us.

This proves we are a slave race, always was always will be.

We have been eating genetically modified food for thousands of years. The only difference is, the modifications were done through breeding, and now can be done directly.

I don't recall anyone in the past asking for labels for giant mutant turkeys with gigantic breasts, or tasteless tomatoes bred to have tough outer skins to survive truck rides.
