At some sites, if you click "Like" or "Dislike" by mistake, you can click it again to "undo" the first click. The suggestion has been made occasionally that PatNet would benefit from adding that feature, but the suggestion doesn't seem to have its own thread, so I'm adding one here.

It's on my mind because today in my clumsiness I accidentally clicked Dislike where I meant to click Like. You can call me an idiot for this reason among others (actually the people who think me an idiot mostly ignore me by now anyway), but I do think that everyone has had or will have the experience of clicking slightly off target.

Pencils have erasers, keyboards have Delete, and Like/Dislike would benefit from some sort of undo functionality.

P.S. On a related point, recently I looked at some of my own comments to see which got the most likes and which got the most dislikes. One comment was particularly unpopular, maybe it was misunderstood, so I decided to retract that comment, i.e. to delete it. Even after I deleted the comment, the dislikes remained. Perhaps that is by design, like an eBay feedback score, I can't change the fact that in that moment other people disliked something I said. I don't know if a retraction feature would be an improvement or not, but it might be.

OK, letting people click again to undo a like or dislike is now at the top of my to-do list.

I have a full-time job now so it may take me a while, but I will do it.

Not too sure about letting people change their like/dislike history by removing threads. I'll have to think about that one.

We all have full time jobs, that doesn't keep us from spending all day on PatNet.

Ah, I'm trying to make a good impression at work. I really like my job and want to keep it.

Actually no, what do they say?

This should be interesting.

APOCALYPSEFUCK is Shostakovich says

Wow, you know what they say about people who work for a living.

Actually no, what do they say?

This should be interesting.

That they wasted their time before the cannibal anarchy doing office work instead of learning how to hunt, gut, and flame broil human.

Just a guess based on reading Apoc's prior posts.

OK, finally did this!

now if you click like once, it works as usual, but if you click it again, it undoes the first one. keep clicking and it should just toggle back and forth. let me know if it doesn't work.

please give more suggestions! i do get to them all eventually...

Call it Crazy says

How about adding the "Alias" function again, so we can see who's registered multiple user names?

i'm disinclined to do that, because people should be able to be as anonymous as they want to be on a forum like this. sure, it's fun to unmask someone as someone else, but it kinda chills free speech too.

they way i did it before was logging the ip address with each comment. i don't even log that anymore.

Next to like & dislike maybe "I fucking hate you!" would be a nice addition.

Great ANOTHER Patnet contest I'd win hands down.

Then get rid of the Like/Dislike feature because it serves no realistic point if you'll allow one poster to log in with multiple screen names. The Likes/Dislikes become a fake, non-accurate measure of a thread/post and are totally useless
