It seems to me like the who new england strategy is to find "undervalued" talent meaning pay them less that what they deserve based on likely future production and dump these players once they become free agents so that some other team will pay them what they are worth based on the past and likely future production and then repeat the cycle all over again. And while at it pay the minimum to as many players as possible and mask deficiencies via play of tom brady. I think it's finally gonna catch up with them. Brady out of pure naivete decided to "help the team" and accept the under market contract (as opposed to Aaron Rodgers) so that they team will have the money to resign key free agents. The patriots "management" promptly decided that their definition of "help" will be to dump one of their most productive receivers. I don't think Brady is too happy about it.
But a greater point - obviously if every team followed the patriots strategy then 90% of the veterans would be out of a job upon hitting free agency and replaced be cheap college town. Hhm, sounds like what many of our "companies" are like...obviously patriots are getting away with it at the expense of every other team . . . so does that make new england patriots the devil?
