The war on terror is just a witchhunt

While watching this video on witch hunts in Switzerland, think about how the same exact things are going on in the Middle East when America captures "suspected terrorists" based on the testimonies of others and think about the motivations behind both witch hunts and the war on terror.

Different century, same exact shit.

All while our big government uses that as an excuse to gain more power by spying on all our actions in an Orwellian way. It truly is disgusting. We learn nothing from history.

Witches aren't real?

In the 12th century when some asshole wanted to get even for some perceived slight, he would call his neighbor a witch and the government would kidnap, torture, and murder that person. In the 21st century when some asshole wanted to get even for some perceived slight, he would call his neighbor a terrorist and the government would kidnap, torture, and murder that person. And you can't see the pattern?

I could also accuse my neighbor of human trafficking (or any other serious crime), no? The burden of proof is on me to prove it in court.

Hey, you've got to have some fun between yam-planting and target practice sessions.

Now imagine that
- there is no court
- you have no access to lawyers
- you have no right to challenge your imprisonment
- you can and will be tortured and raped
- the public will no be allowed to witness what is going on
- when it is obvious that you are innocent, you will be murdered so that you cannot tell your story

That's what America's prosecution of terrorists is like and that's why it's a witch hunt.

Is that true even if the person I accuse of terrorism is a U.S. citizen?

I'm *not* saying it's right even if they *aren't* a U.S. citizen; I'm just wondering.

That sounds like treatment one would expect in a POW camp. Perhaps "suspected terrorists" are being treated like POWs.

Assuming the U.S. citizen isn't killed in a drone attack, yes.

Far worse. The GOP has always advocated that the Geneva Convention doesn't cover civilians, so a civilian can be legally raped by a government for shits and giggles. There's nothing Grand about the Grand Old Party.

You're saying I can accuse any U.S. citizen of being a terrorist, w/o any evidence whatsoever, and they'll be jailed/tortured/killed? I find that almost impossible to believe. Can you give an example?

I thought they were arguing the Geneva Convention doesn't cover foreign combatants suspected of terrorism. I never heard they were arguing that it doesn't cover civilians. If they are, that's fubar.

It all depends on if the arbitrary government agent calling the shot decides to or not. And he can decide based on his own secret agenda.

As for an example, Obama Administration Admits Drone Attacks Killed 4 US Citizens, All Children and they were the intended targets.

According to the article, only one of the four was a child (16 years old). And only Anwar Al Aulaqi was specifically targeted. Still, it's insane.

The *Obama* administration is doing this? This is the kind of thing I'd expect from some far-right Republican president.

And yet the Foxbots and Rushbots think Obama is some far-left "liberal."

My bad. I was thinking of other drone strikes. U.S. Drone Strikes Have Killed 176 Children in Pakistan Alone

Nonetheless, a lot of children, as young as infants are killed by drone strikes.

Jesus Christ, that's f*cking crazy! And we're inspiring a whole new generation of terrorists.

I tend to agree, after reading those articles.

And yet there are idiots (like my own father) saying Obama is some "flaming liberal."

Why the f*ck isn't our media reporting this stuff? Oh that's right, they're too busy talking about the winner of last night's America's Got Talent episode. WTF?

Now I remember. I was thinking of the drone strike that killed Abdulrahman Al-Awlaki (mentioned in the article) and a group of teenagers that he was having dinner with. His father and the other persons mentioned in the article were killed in separate drone strikes.

It's pretty sad when the government has to slaughter a bunch of unarmed teenagers having dinner just to prove the point that the American military is bad ass. What utter cowardice.

Perfectly well said Dan. It truly is gestapo tactic. It's no different then government simply shooting someone off in the middle of the night and burying their body without witnesses. The only difference is the paperwork. We think we are more civilized now, because we have classified paperwork now along to secretly document murders and injustice.

But there are laws against torture that go beyond the Geneva Conventions.

There are many national and international laws that the U.S. has violated when torturing people.
