Surveillance has always been around. Rather than cameras people would watch and report on each other.
When people aren't fearful or suspicious of each other, surveillance falls out of fashion. When porch piracy stops, because of the prolific Ring cameras. Ring cameras will fall out of favor. Nobody want's a video record of them busting their ass on their icy steps.
I remember when traffic cameras came out, they were so successful people quit running red lights. A lot of intersections that used to have them, don't have them any more. I noticed Cities seem to focus on major intersections, and not so much where the two single lane roads meet. I haven't gotten a ticket from a traffic camera in years. I don't know if they don't do that anymore, or if the cameras don't work. But I have crossed the street right as the light turned yellow to red, a few times. They are probably used solei for surveillance now, But if we didn't have cameras, then we would have commies watching our every move to report to the Ministry Of Rat Bastards.
