This goes beyond what Mark Twain called "damned lies".

The point is what Ryan said is not in the same universe as what Clinton did.

That's right. Clinton kept the peace and America prospered throughout his presidency. He did a great job.

In contrast, Ryan's lies are meant to be used to cut food stamps and thus cause millions of poor children to be malnourished. You can't compare that to Clinton getting a blow job and not bragging about it to Congress. Paul Ryan is evil and wants to literally hurt children. Clinton got a hummer. Only an idiot would suggest that Clinton's actions were anyway near as horrendous as Paul Ryan's.

If you say so, but yes truly ghastly an embellished story, so fucking what.

You're not being clear. Is that a pussy way of admitting you were wrong when you said "As usual you "have proved" nothing.", or are you doubling down on stupidity by still holding to the position that this post has not proved that Paul Ryan is a liar?

Funny stuff I don't think have ever lost an argument with you.

Oh, so you are doubling down on stupidity.

45   Dan8267   2014 Apr 13, 3:54pm

Name it.

1. Red Herring

You tried to distract from the Paul Ryan speech by ridiculing The Daily Show for being a comedy show. It is irrelevant who or what show presented the video clip, the video is an unedited and fully contextual segment of Paul Ryan's actual speech and thus does reflect his actions.

2. Appeal to Ridicule

You state that the Daily Show is a comedy show, therefore nothing it says can be considered truthful or taken seriously. This simply isn't so. The Paul Ryan speech and Jon Stewart's revelations about it are important and accurate.

3. Guilt By Association

You tried to convince people that because the clip was played on a comedy show, the clip is invalid. You also tried to convince people that merely being associated with comedians invalidates political analysis.

4. Poisoning the Well

You tried to convince people that nothing coming from The Daily Show can be taken seriously even though the content in question most certainly can.

5. Division

You implied that because The Daily Show is comedy overall, every segment must be comical and thus not serious. This simply isn't true as illustrated by this interview with 9/11 responders reacting to the Republican filibuster of a bill to save the lives of 9/11 responders.

Have you learned your lesson? Never call my hand. I never bluff.

He went to Kosovo. He did good on the finance because of Gingrich and coincidence of the Tech boom.

There are 47 million people on food stamps but you characterize this as starving children?

While missing the point that he is making about co-opting the citizens.

You are trying to say that embellishing is a heinous crime. Bullshit.

Dan8267 says

Just the facts...

Cept that is Stewart's MO. But you are making out to heinous, bullshit.

Comedy by definition points out violations of logic.

Would people find the speech funny if not colored by Stewart?

That's right so what.

Compared to the numerous wars Bush started that kill over a million people, the Clinton years were the most peaceful in American history since before WWII.

And the tech boom was largely due to Al Gore opening up networks.

Game, set, match the Clinton administration.

Go ahead and continue to lie about historical facts. Reality is well documented.

indigenous says

There are 47 million people on food stamps but you characterize this as starving children?

NoKidHungry.org

48.8 million Americans—including 16.2 million children— live in households that lack the means to get enough nutritious food on a regular basis. As a result, they struggle with hunger at some time during the year.

Child Welfare League of America

Thirty-three million people-including 13 million children-live in households that experience hunger or the risk of hunger. This represents one in ten households in the United States (10 percent).

7.3 percent of U.S. households are at risk of hunger: they have lower quality diets or must resort to seeking emergency food because they cannot always afford the food they need. 24.7 million people, including 9.9 million children, live in these homes.

Lousina State University Agricultural Center

Some 13 million children in the United States live in homes with limited access to a sufficient food supply. Children are being aided substantially by food stamps. In more than 800 counties nationwide, one in three children is getting this critical nutrition assistance. In the mid-American cities of St. Louis, Memphis, and New Orleans, half the children get food stamp (SNAP) benefits. Even in Peoria, Illinois – the proverbial Everytown, USA – the figure is 40 percent. In the Bronx, 46 percent of children are on food stamps. In East Carroll Parish, Louisiana, SNAP helps three in four children. A new generation of research demonstrates a direct link between inadequate food supply and a poorer overall health status among U.S. children, according to LSU AgCenter food and nutrition expert Dr. Annrose Guarino.

Guarino says insufficient food supply is associated with an increased incidence of behavior problems in adolescents, including higher levels of aggression, hyperactivity and anxiety. Research reveals that food-insecure children have greater difficulty getting along with other children, increased chances of being suspended from school and a greater need for mental health counseling.

Previous research has demonstrated that continuous lack of food can result in malnutrition over time, and even the mildest form of malnutrition can limit a child’s ability to understand basic skills and reduce overall learning potential. For example, children from food-insecure households did not perform as well on academic achievement tests as did children from food-secure households.

indigenous, you are both ignorant and heartless.

To everyone else, this is why we should never put a Republican in any office every again.

And the tech boom was largely due to Al Gore opening up networks.

Al Bore took credit for one piece of legislation in 91, but to say that was inventing the internet is absurd. Investment in the internet is what created it.

Dan8267 says

Game, set, match

Get your head out your ass.

Rather than a small percentage of the people being on food stamps you would have over half of the population subsidized in one form or another by the government which will lead to people who are dependent on the state. Then it will be game set match for the whole fucking country. The equality meme is just that and will lead to a failed state.

Dan8267 says

indigenous, you are both ignorant and heartless.

What you advocate is exactly why people should listen to the Ryan rhetoric as it points to the real danger, as the internet that you are so happy to credit government with, which ignores the real reason for the success, the free market.

Once the Old retire and spend down social security and medicare to zero, they will proclaim 'mission accomplished' and fall into the ground, successfully removing government intervention from 'merica.

That's pretty relevant to this thread.

drew_eckhardt says

Getting something back for the 12.4% of his parents' salary which went into Social Security isn't leeching, although I expect he'd have been MUCH better off if the same money had been used for private investments and life insurance

I spend 1.27% of my wages subject to Social Security on a life insurance policy which pays out 4.6X.

And if your "private" life insurance policy paid out to everyone, it would pay out less. Rather, it only pays out to those who elect to pay in (many of whom elect because they can afford).

I pay 0.1% of my income for a $600k policy. If all of America paid 0.1% of their income toward social security, the policy would be worth toilet paper.

But ok, Paul Ryan deserved his money. So, let's means test social security this way: only those who paid in enough deserve any of it back (with interest). I'm down with that, because by the time I'm 67 there won't be shit left for me, but I and my employers will have been paying in since I was 16; that's 51 years. And if I'm not alive at 67, I expect my kids to inherit every fucking penny of it.

Yet if the grand old fuckers have it there way there will be nothing left once they are finished with it.

Bottom line: there is no such argument that some deserve social security and some don't...just doesn't work that way.

APOCALYPSEFUCKisShostikovitch says

Ryan took money from a socialist criminal enterprise and has made no indication that he will return it with interest or throw himself off of a bridge in the name of Freedom. How can he call himself an American?

Those people are not socialists, they are just assholes who think that if you are not rich you should lose your social security and die quietly somewhere in the corner, just so they could keep their taxes lower.

Socialists are the assholes on the other side, who think we should all be beaten into equal poverty along with several million illegals they'd like to legalize and put on welfare.

You pick the bridge and I'll bring the woodchipper. I'll even toss in a tub of Velveta. (He's a cheesehead isn't he?) The nachos that come out the end of the chute we'll feed to the starving foodstampers.

Wow - I hadn't thought of that, but it gives me an idea. Unlike most Republicans, Ryan has a fair amount of lean meat, enough to feed a family in Janesville for the better part of a week. If you chip him into the school lunch program, a Republican would finally be doing something to promote education.

Honestly, if you don't think there is systematic voter suppression in this country, you are either a fool or a racist. Take your pick.

Voter suppression is embarrassingly obvious in this country. It makes me feel shame for America.
