Maybe "liberals explode over straight white guy festival" is a reference to bukake? Even though gays can be any part of the political spectrum, the flat-earthers here refer to anything to do with gays as "liberal," so I could see that terminology being used here with the wide stance types.

Well there certainly was in these cases.

I would contend that the evidence points to pedophilia being more likely when you have an unassailable institution that is based on secrecy and superstitions which the public is not even allowed to question, i.e. a religion.

Can't you see how pedophiles would be attracted to such an institution? The Catholic Church is like a big, windowless van that can drive anywhere. And children are forced to participate in religious matters even if they don't want to. What more could a pedophile want?

The plural of anecdote is not data. Catholic priests are not a representative sample of any larger data set, so their misconduct does not provide evidence of what other people are more or less likely to do. The only data they really provide is that some number of males choose to become Catholic priests, embracing a life of purported celibacy, and many of them have secret reasons for that. If you happen to be Catholic and interested sexually only in children, then you would likely choose an occupation that relieves you of social pressure to get married and that instead gives you private access to children in a context where you wield authority over them, e.g. priest. At best, the self-selection of pedophiles into the priesthood may suggest that the remaining Catholics, who do not choose to become priests, are more likely to be interested sexually in adults rather than children.

And more importantly, the coverup is reason enough to question the Church's moral authority and so-called direct-connect to god. Remember, this wasn't the case of a few bad apples. It's a crime and coverup that has been going on for decades if not centuries.
