Pollack made his revised estimate based on the percentage of individual water molecules in the body, compared to the total number of molecules. By the molecule method of calculation, the human body’s water percentage becomes a whopping 99%.
Measuring by volume is somewhat meaningful. Measuring by mass is even more so. I don't see how particularly useful counting individual molecules are, but it certainly isn't what most people mean when they measure composition. If you mean that, you should explicitly state that you are counting molecules as oppose to mass. And certainly the stats of human urine isn't based on molecule counts.
The problem with molecule counts is how exactly do you count molecules when atoms are loosely coupled? Depending on how you count, a cell membrane may have millions of molecules or just one.
