I know, I live under a rock - BUT, I just ran across an investment outfit called Motif. It sounds too good to be true, so is it true? Or is it ... you call it. Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with them. Here is a link to the website. I'm not promoting it, I'm asking for opinions and/or experiences with them.

You can buy stocks all you want for $0 commission with Robinhood vs $9.95 with them, so all that's left is the diversification strategy which they call the motif. There are other start-ups with similar ideas, promoting certain stock packages of participating companies for $0 commission, so if Robinhood makes it I think there's not much a market left for them. One thing to keep in mind, no matter which new company you go with, is to use little money in the beginning until they mature, as you have to ask yourself if your customer account is that well protected in case of another recession/depression/crash. Personally I stick with a large brokerage for now (but will try out Robinhood) where you can bargain for lower commissions (~$5) and even free trades (ETFs are usually free anyways) if you have a decent amount of money with them and/or trade a lot.
