It was common practice in England (up to the 20th Century), the Colonies, the Frontier and among American Indians, all of whom typically shared one room houses.

And if you are retarded enough to think that children need to be completely isolation from the facts of life, then you should keep your children locked up inside a plastic bubble in your home and never take them into public. We free citizens should not lose our freedoms for the sake of your preference of keeping your children isolated.

Keeping children isolated from reality is a form of lazy, helicopter parenting. No wonder parents get arrested for letting their children walk two whole blocks from the park to their home alone. If your children are so god-damn fragile, then we should mandate that all parents and children live in designated communities in the middle of nowhere far from the dangers and economic opportunities of cities and civilization.
