Recently I had some dealings with the IRS without getting into the details.
I must say, they were the easiest organization I have had the pleasure of dealing with in a long damn while.
If the whole country was running like the IRS is now that they are in the hot seat, we'd be great again.
The IRS agent I spoke with with her customer service software(or how ever she was doing it) was even able to do things that typically you have to pay an accountant who understands all of the complicated tax code to file one form, to get permission to pay the fee to file another form. She just typed it in right there based on my own word for the agreement.
I don't praise this administration often... well never, but I've got to give it to the IRS. I can attest to the fact that if a mean nasty person calls you on the Phone acting nasty, and threatening you and demanding you take out loans and call your mom and dad for money or you're going to jail. It is a scam 100%, even if you suspect he might be right because you're guilty of not paying taxes in years, it's still a scam. Especially then, if you are on the lamb from the IRS they send people to knock on the door, not ring the phone.

I got a call from Microsoft asking me if I knew my PC was being hacked? I was shocked. Shocked, because we have no Microsoft products in our home. :)

I had one problem with a debt to the IRS in 1999. I ended up with a college student working part time handling my file. He was very nice and considerate and gave me two years to pay $479.00.

Please be advised that I just got a very disturbing robo call. The caller had a British-type accent. He warned me that a criminal docket had been opened with the IRS. If I did not return his call, I would be taken to US court or a magistrate judge. The tone of voice of the caller was most menacing. I was given a number to call.If one calls this number they are instructed to go to a drug store or Safeway and buy up to thousands of dollars in prepaid bank cards and send them to an address or upload these to a website. Once you pay the money all of your tax problems go away.
In real life if one is under criminal investigation by the IRS, you will be visited by agents with guns and badges. Regardless of if you make restitution or not, you will be prosecuted and taken to court.You very well could end up in prison.
