http://www.nytimes.com/2015/09/19/opinion/europe-should-see-refugees-as-a-boon-not-a-burden.html
"Many European leaders have described the refugees who are risking their lives to get to the Continent as a burden. But there is good reason to believe that these immigrants will contribute more to Europe economically than they will take from it."
"Numerous studies have found that immigrants bolster growth by increasing the labor force and consumer demand. Rather than being a drain, immigrants generally pay more in taxes than they claim in government benefits."

Americans need to learn that:
1 - Europe is not America. It is not a nation of immigrants. It is not a melting pot. It has thousands of years of culture and traditions. You don't just erase all of that, clean the board, and bring millions of new people with different culture and traditions just because "it grows the economy". That's stupid and a recipe for civil war.
2 - The idea of growing the economy by growing the population is stupid.
- first because it is a short term strategy that doesn't work: if you grow your population 1.5% a year, you will multiply it by 4.4 after 100 years, by 20 after 200 years. In countries that are densely populated as Europe, it's quite simply impossible without a collapse of the quality of life.
What is the goal of "growing the economy" if it is to enhance the quality of life, then you cannot do it this way.
- second we are reaching the age of AI, when everything will be massively automated. Productivity will decouple from population. You don't need people to produce or consume. You just need an army of robots to serve the people you have. People are obsolete from an economic perspective. Or rather the economy is obsolete. In any case the last thing you need is more people.

3 - if you really believe all of your own arguments, why don't you give a passport to 12 millions illegal immigrants in the US AND bring 1 million Syrian refugees to the US to show how you actually care.

"Germany already relies on workers from other European Union nations to fill many jobs."

It's because all Germans want to do is retire at 60, they don't want to work.

I thought we were giving Europe good moral direction by showing them with JFK that you could conduct an internal putsch of the country's leader and get away with it.
