Verizon exec in charge of FiOS TV confesses that she cut the cord

When the executive in charge of your pay TV product admits publicly that she no longer pays for TV, it's probably time to accept the fact that cable's best days are behind it. While larger pay TV providers like Comcast and Time Warner Cable continue their attempts to lure cord cutters back to pay TV bundles, Verizon's top FiOS brass appear ready and willing to embrace the future. Either that, or director of FiOS TV Maitreyi Krishnaswamy had a momentary lapse last week when she admitted publicly that the cord in her household has been snipped.

“I've pretty much cut the cord,” Krishnaswamy confessed while speaking on a panel at the TV of Tomorrow show in Manhattan. As its name might suggests, the TV of Tomorrow event features a wide range of panels with speakers and discussions focused on the evolution of television and the direction TV is headed in the near future.

Krishnaswamy went on to talk up Verizon's new Go90 service, which offers streaming content for mobile devices including a range of exclusive shows that are only available to Go90 subscribers. Among the exclusives on Go90 is a new show starring MTV's Jersey Shore alums Snooki and Jwoww dubbed Snooki & Jwoww: Moms With Attitude.

Light Reading notes that FiOS's future has been called into question recently following the sale of Verizon's FiOS footprints in three states to Frontier and rumors that Verizon might be exploring the sale of its enterprise business. But Krishnaswamy suggested that FiOS isn't going anywhere anytime soon: “We are definitely positioning ourselves very clearly for the over-the-top future,” she said during the TV of Tomorrow panel.

Don't forget the Cable Company and Internet is now the same company.
In the last 3 months espeically, every 4G data provider, Broadband connectivity provider, have pretty much gotten in lockstep with eachother. To be the benneficiaries of the Cheap ala carte Online streaming.
They don't need to worry anylonger about Hollywood licensing fees. Arguing with Networks lawyering up negociating content contracts, and broadcasting rights. They are relinqueshing them selves of that obligation. And are more than willing to let you and the Cable companies sort that all out.
Where they will now make there money is in charging you for the bandwidth for watching that content, that you pay the Networks to watch. They don't have to worry about who's watching what.
The more you watch the more they will make. And it's all theirs.

The Internet of tormorrow is going to be a very restrictive place. Any free information you'll find will be purely advertorial in nature.
