maybe it's paranoid, but consider it might all be a scam.
maybe apple always did give away everything to the fbi or nsa, and the claim that they don't is just an act they put on for publicity and trust. and maybe the fbi goes along with it to get us all to trust iphones...
I'm sure Apple's motivation is largely that if they allowed back doors into their products, they would lose customers to third-party developers who cannot be forced by government to put in such back doors. How do you get the two teenage kids in Russia to put in backdoors for the FBI into their killer app?
Still, Apple is doing the right thing for once, regardless of whether or not their motives are noble. If they stick to this position, I'll give them props.

Exactly.
If you had invested billions and billions in a massive spying apparatus all predicated on the existence of a backdoor, wouldn't you want the public to think that they in fact don't have a such backdoor?
I would bet that it is false flag theater to protect their asset. Like, the NSA, CIA and FBI can spy domestically and on foreign countries, but can't conduct competent industrial espionage, or recruit the companies to be in bed with them?
Keep the sheep dumb.
They are doing the right thing by fighting the Nazis in the FBI.
The tone between Apple and the FBI is now openly hostile
If they keep it up, they will finally earn some respect from me.
