The Downside of Diversity

From multicultural festivals to pronouncements from political leaders, the message is the same: our differences make us stronger. But a massive new study, based on detailed interviews of nearly 30,000 people across America, has concluded just the opposite. Harvard political scientist Robert Putnam -- famous for "Bowling Alone," his 2000 book on declining civic engagement -- has found that the greater the diversity in a community, the fewer people vote and the less they volunteer, the less they give to charity and work on community projects. In the most diverse communities, neighbors trust one another about half as much as...

Hitler wanted Germany to be for Germans only. Seems reasonable, except that he didn't count German Jews as Germans and wanted them out, one way or another.

Then he also wanted Eastern Europe for the German people to expand into, and started killing lots of Poles and Russians to do it. Not cool.

What is homogeneity are we looking for ?

For America, I think it should remain fundamentally European, allowing only high-value immigrants to agree to thoroughly assimilate into American culture, speaking American English and hopefully also intermarrying with long-established Americans.

The goal should be for all US citizens to have an exclusive commitment to America alone, and not to Somalia, or Mexico, or to Israel for that matter. Only to America.

Sucks to be poles, muslims, Germans, russians.. have tried to take them out.

"For America, I think it should remain fundamentally European, allowing only high-value immigrants to agree to thoroughly assimilate into American culture, speaking American English"

America was never really europen til 300 years ago, millions of natives lived here who taught first europeans how to farm. Then millions of Africa were brought for cotton picking, then chinese for railroads, poor Italians and Irish potato famine brought more Europeans. US hated those poor europeans in 1920. Europeans are at constant war.

The famous line from the Statue of Liberty is from Emma Lazarus's sonnet, "The New Colossus," which reads, "Give me your tired, your poor, / Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free" and welcomes immigrants, symbolizing hope and freedom, with the full text inscribed on a bronze plaque inside the pedestal.

*Allowing high value immigrants makes perfect sense. Though not great incentive to come to USA if they are high value. Early Europeans were persecuted groups or criminals from French n british. There are too many durg addicts in usa so we could use some high value immigrants.

American English is almost same as british. If you read Shakespeare 400 years ago, English has changed significantly. If to tell most European to speak English, they will try to kill you. French n Germans n many other love their language.
English is distant relatives within the vast Indo-European language family, sharing a common ancestor called Proto-Indo-European (PIE). Future we can have AI develop optimum world language.

Hope no gets offended, goal is to discuss. We are all made from electron ,proton,n neutron and full of empty space.

Chauncey M. Depew, during his speech at the Statue of Liberty’s unveiling on October 28, 1886, said:

The rays from this beacon… will welcome the poor and the persecuted… It will teach them that there is room and brotherhood for all who will support our institutions and aid in our development; but that those who come to disturb our peace and dethrone our laws are aliens and enemies forever.

We struggled as a nation, who hasn't, everyone had a hard history. But we stabilized and created a very high trust society. These were times you didn't need to lock your door or your car. Some of us remember that. Even when immigrants came, it wasn't that many, they assimilated and became American. And at some point that changed, some dickhead decided we need to import whole world over for various reasons. And they started importing people from countries where scams are the way of life, assimilating wasn't a thing anymore. Can you blame Nigerian or Somalian for scamming, when this is all they know? We should have known, instead we just let all these scams flourish. You can't bring people like that into a high trust, honor system society. And because of that everything has gone to shit. Streets aren't safe, scams everywhere, and there is no end in sight. We are starting to look and function like third world because we imported third world in such a number that it changed our culture. And we need to undo that.

This is one thing I very much agree with Trump admin on "Import third world, become third world". We did. All I see is massive immigrant scams everywhere, and fraudulent government spending. Not all fraud is immigrants, but that's very widespread and it's culture changing.

Yes agree that we dont need people disturb peace. Somolies etc are doing lot of crimes n fraud should go. For comparing , we can use various crime : fraud, homicide, theft etc of us citizen vs immigrated ones per 100,000k to see .
