The best-ranked female chess player in the United States has said she would rather sacrifice her career than submit to demands to wear a hijab at the next world championship. Nazi Paikidze, the reigning US Womens Chess Champion, swore to boycott the 2017 contest, which is being held in Iran and will have an enforced Islamic dress code. Paikidze admitted that the decision will harm her career, but said that doing the bidding of an oppressive regime in order to compete is not a price worth paying. In an interview with the founder of My Stealthy Freedom, a campaign against...

Today all we get are quick tweets about oppression and sexism, I miss to good old days when Bobby Fischer would go on a antisemitic tirade non stop for 45 minutes.

The sheer horror of having to wear a headscarf in public for a few days. And I wonder if there's a bit more family history to this beyond the hijab issue given that her name is Nazi.

oh shut up. you liberals practically fall apart from crying when someone tells you that a man can't walk into a womans restroom. See how it'll work if you are forced to be a Muslim or just about any religion for that matter... you people will probably just check yourself straight into insane asylum.

And what has that got to do do with wearing a hijab when visiting a country that requires it? Plenty of people wear headscarves. Are you going to have a hissy fit about Russian Orthodox Christians as well?

So I take it you support the positions in France banning the wearing of the hijab?

How ironic would it be, if the Democrats voted their way to Sharia in The States? They don't have a clue.

Eh? Of all the items I see people walking around wearing these days, a headscarf ranks pretty low on the radar, so no, I'm not in favor of determining what people should or should not wear, though if i was, I'd be banning fat people from wearing hot pants long before I turned my attentions to the hijab.

I won't go to the country that requires it. it's that simple.

The point is that you obviously are okay with mandated dress. Just as long as the Muslims are mandating it. When the French ban not wearing it, I'm guessing you find that upsetting. Which is inconsistent. You either think it's okay to make those kinds of rules or you don't. The where and what shouldn't matter.

12   FNWGMOBDVZXDNW   @   2016 Oct 1, 1:28pm

Good for her. Fuck the world chess organization. All women should protest. No world championship should require acquiescing to Sharia rules.

The French are banning face covering not headscarfs. And that still serves no purpose apart from to inflame resentment amongst the Muslim community. I'm neither for nor against these items of clothing as the manner of dress people wear is of little concern to me. Headscarfs used to be extremely common in the West only a few decades ago, so why would I get upset about that? It's a very common item in the Muslim world. We adopt practices of foreign countries all the time when we visit them.

Next people will be arguing that it is perfectly fine to flog women and stone them to death for adultery. Watching the lefties here gives a window into the twisted minds of Obama-anything Muslims do is good.

Yeah, because that's obviously the same as being required to wear a headscarf when visiting Iran. Reading the comments on here by the likes of you and FortWayne just gives an insight into how frothing-at-the-mouth-stupid some people can be.

Another great TPB title.

Here's my version: "American female Chess player, ranked 98th in the world, is afraid that if she competes in upcoming Iraanian tournament, she will no longer be in the world's top 100"

Nah that is you. Forcing a woman to do something against her will is fine by the left apparently. So why would you nutjobs stop at support of stonings and throwing gays off buildings. The same countries do that.

The funny thing is you bigoted, hateful critters think you are tolerant. Deranged lunatics.

So when the arab checker hijabs come over here everybody plays in the nude.....capeesh?

Feel free to explain how I'm forcing anyone to do anything. You bigoted fools hold your hands up in celebration when a supposedly liberal democratic society imposes a dress code on its population, but when a Muslim country does it, then it becomes an opportunity to try and make commonality with stoning, etc. etc. I guess it's idiot right logic.

And surprisingly enough, I'm not forcing her to wear a hijab. If she doesn't want to, then she doesn't have to go to Iran. See how it works? What I did say is that we live in a world of different cultures and beliefs, and having to wear a headscarf if you visit one of those cultures isn't actually a big deal in the grand scheme of things. But hey, feel free to keep chucking around your bullshit and lies. It's what you seem to do on a regular basis.

You don't get it. When they enforce the hijab, they enforce religion. When we enforce removing the Burkha, we enforce lack of religion. Big difference.

No, you aren't. You're enforcing discrimination against a particular form of dress adopted by SOME followers of one particular religion, not the enforcing of no religion.

She is free to make her own choices. If she doesn't want to respect the norms of that society, then she doesn't have to visit. Simple. You don't want Muslims imposing their beliefs and lifestyle on you in the West and rage against it all the time, and yet you seem utterly incapable of seeing it from the other perspective. What a surprise.

The truth is, Islamic dress codes are a symbol of human rights abuse. That is the problem we have, and that is why many want to see the Burkha banned.
