The republicans control all three branches of the government. They control both chambers of Congress, the White House, and the Supreme Court. Yet, they cannot do the thing they promised the most both during the election and the past 7 years, which is to repeal Obamacare. Yet, only two months into his presidency, Trump has officially pussied out and is claiming that Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer because Republicans didn't have the balls to actually repeal Obamacare when the decision was all up to them. What, they want the Democrats to take the blame for repealing it? What bullshit.

The Republicans could have easily repealed Obamacare, and chose not to. They did this because they knew that repealing Obamacare would be political suicide. That means every attempt for the past 7 years to repeal the act has been a bluff. For 7 years, Republicans lied to their constituents about wanting to repeal Obamacare, and their dumb ass constituents fell for it hook, line, and sinker. The Republicans didn't even have to have a replacement plan to vote in favor of the repeal. It's pathetic.

Trump looks pathetic for giving up so quickly on a central campaign issue especially when he has full control of all three branches of government. If he can't even follow through under those conditions on a key issue indicates that he cannot lead. He cannot even control his own party members. The fact that he has attempted to pass the buck for his own impotence is quick frankly a demonstration of his weakness as a leader and a deal maker.

I suspect that the next four years will repeat this story over and over again. Trump will fail, blame the other side, and take no responsibility. He will accomplish nothing and the Republicans will look bad whether they cooperate with Trump or oppose him like they did in this vote.

Republicans also look bad because Trump flat out said that his plan now is to let the whole system "explode". Now that's leadership!

You know, a man with larger hands would have gotten the votes from his own party.

Yes Trump looks very weak.

This is why intelligent people were Bernie or bust.

What if Trump decided to back Medicare for all ? He might even understand that that would be the right thing to do. IT would piss of a lot of republicans, but also put the democrats in a very awkward position. Ultimately it might make Trump not the all time worst President after all, which I would think might be something he would want.

What I don't get is: wouldn't medicare for all actually be a good thing for corporations ? (That is not including insurance companies). Since corporations and banks pretty much run this country, how come we don't already have medicare for all ? It's good enough for old people, who are by far the biggest consumers of health care.

I guess the problem might be regulations that would be needed to prevent the supplemental insurance companies for continuing our pattern of cost increases in health care.

The only other reason I can think of is that it would provide too much health care to the poor and we just don't believe in that kind of thing in this country. THat, and the fact that it it would be a tax increase to the 1 percenters, that is the ones that are not running corporations.

So, why isn't the conservative base that was so furious about Obamacare not pissed off now that Republicans have basically said, "fuck you, it was all a ruse, we never intended to repeal this act"?
