My Polish great grandfather died in the 1918 flu pandemic in Chicago and was buried in a rental grave in St. Adalbert's Cemetery.
I didn't find out it was a rental until I was living nearby after college and went to see his grave. Time had expired, so they had buried someone else on top and changed the tombstone.
