I know you're trying to be facetious, but it's actually true. Since the government is more or less owned by big banks, big pharma, etc., and in this case big oil and coal, it won't be until a majority of the people demand change that it will come. Even the pentagon and all the legit strategic planners know that we need to get to clean energy as soon as possible, but there's a lot of money to be made by slowing it down as much as possible.
