Sir Roger Moore, the suave English actor who is best known for playing James Bond and Simon Templar in The Saint TV series, has died aged 89 in Switzerland.

His family announced the news on Tuesday on Twitter saying: "he passed away today…after a short but brave battle with cancer.”

Moore was best known for playing the third incarnation of the famous 007 spy in seven Bond films released between 1973 and 1985 including Live and Let Die and The Spy Who Loved Me. He starred in more James Bond films than any other actor to date, bringing a fresh wit to the sophisticated MI5 spy.

Born in London in 1927, he studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts where he was a classmate of future costar Lois Maxwell, who played the original Miss Moneypenny in the Bond films.

After working as a model in the early 1950s, Moore signed a seven-year contract with MGM where he starred in small movies such as Interrupted Melody and The King's Thief. But it was his roles in television that soon brought him success.

He starred in ITV's romantic adventure Ivanhoe from 1956-58 before featuring in ABC Western The Alaskans and Maverick. After he starred in hit crime shows such as The Saint, which ran for 118 episodes, as well as The Persuaders, Hollywood began to take note of the charming and witty actor.

Bond producer Albert Broccoli offered Moore the role of 007 in 1972 and he wrote in his autobiography that he had to lose weight and cut his hair before starring in the franchise for more than 13 years.

Summer of 2016 I binge watched all of the James Bond movies in series. It was very interesting to see the culture change over time. I missed the new ones and have no interest in them whatsoever.

The last one for Bond Daniel Craig (No Time To Die 2021) was interesting because it flew a little too close to home truth with the exposition of the DNA specific lab pathogens. It also was repulsively DEI with the 'new Bond' female agent of color, which it appears they had to re-cut to un-Netflix the obnoxiousness.

Because it released so close the the unleashing of the Great Covid Fraud, the movie wound up being downplayed because it was the wrong predictive programming at the wrong time. Of course, since then, we have seen the Ukrainian biolabs working on, what else, DNA specific pathogens.

The PTB didn't want people to believe that they were manufacturing pathogens for genetically specific mass murder? Even though 'On Her Majesty's Secret Service' much earlier generally covered the same fiendishness.

Honestly, my favorite Bond, probably because he was the Bond in my Childhood.

Which is why I skipped it and will probably skip them all going forward.

I'd say that Connery (come on, the opening scene where he says, "I think there's something you want to get off of your chest", then proceeds to rip off a woman's bikini top and strangle her with it) and Craig (getting flogged in the nuts as he was tortured) were the best bonds as far as raw character.

Moore was Bond light and played for comedy (although he had the possibly hottest non-Bond girl (Jane Seymour at a winsome 22 years old at the peak of her female fertility). If that's your fancy, then he was the best Bond.
