After all that tough-sounding talk, the judge gave her 12 years only !!?? The judge should just shut up and impose a strict sentence. Is it common that judges get into these lengthy "sentencing statements"?

Pussy-card plain and simple. I propose all offenders are no longer visible and are allowed visible representation by the avatar of a heterosexual, gnarly, black male for fairness.
Make that 12-year sentence because she got to live at home for the past 8 years and they are counting that as time served. Somehow, I don't think any man hiring a hitman to murder his wife would have gotten off that easy.
