new cars got more nice modern conveniences, but much easier to work old cars. and US manufacturers got into this really shitty habit of trying to make maintenance more pita… putting things places hard to reach without a lift or specialized tool.

subarus are ok, leaky gaskets are a problem. if you do oil changes on them make sure you don’t add too much… it’ll blow the seals., but nice 4wd and generally run well. british cars are maintenance and repair nightmare hell.

I really like my Lesbian Subaru Forester. And if I'm ever required to commit suicide driving a bunch of adopted minority children off a Pacific Ocean cliff into the ocean because I can't handle them, I'm ready.

I don't know trucks. I just get full sized SUV's and can haul as much or more. And toss a twin or double mattress in the back and fit 6-8 people if needed. I can trailer camp with tents and grills or pull a travel tailer that can sleep everyone with me.

Trucks don't make any sense to me. If it's not for legit work, they're kind of senseless. To each their own. I would never buy a truck though.
