And after being deported, the Mexican sneaks back into the US. That is like having the penalty for shoplifting merely being that if you are caught, you must give back what you stole. A better solution would be to add a penalty to whoever hired the illegal or provided gov benefits to the illegal.

Penalty for illegal entry to Singapore includes caning. Maybe that would be an excellent addition.

The agency added that while it focuses on individuals who pose a threat to national security or public safety, it will no longer exempt other classes of removable immigrants from potential enforcement.

"ICE conducts targeted immigration enforcement in compliance with federal law and agency policy. However, ICE will no longer exempt classes or categories of removable aliens from potential enforcement. All of those in violation of the immigration laws may be subject to immigration arrest, detention and, if found removable by final order, removal from the United States.”
